We have been trying to get pregnant and all the pregnancy test all say take day you should have had your period or the more expensive ones say 5 days before a missed period but since I havnt really missed my period what are the chances of it showing up in a urine test?? I have some symptoms from my first pregnancy ( sickness, not wanting to eat, heartburn, soreness and I feel butterflies in my stomach all day just like when I was pregnant with my daughter) but I have still been having my period which is not uncommon in my family! But it's not a regular period. It starts 1 day, then stops, the starts the next day, ect. Should I go take a blood test at the doctors or go by the results from a urine test?? Thanks in advance!!!!

A test measures hCG levels in your urine which are unaffected by menstruation, or basically anything else. That is why they use hCG -it is accurate. Try to use urine with no blood it in it. Wash and put a tampon in before taking the test if you are currently menstruating.

By all means take a urine pregnancy test but if it shows neg with the information supplied I wouldnt count on it being accurate. If you say you have all the symptoms & are not experiencing a 'normal' period you could well be pregnant. I would take the test to see what it says now, but go to the docs for that more sensitive blood test if it comes up neg as all the signs are there! Good luck!

a positive result on a test is no mistake a negative test can be a mistake as test measure hormone levels the test will still show up positive even if you have had periods go to your gp and speak to them they can advise you in more depth
you can bleed all the way through your pregnancy but do go and get checked in case you are pregnant and this pattern of bleeding is shhowing something wrong somewhere - not that im saying there is as i am not a medical professional.
Be safe not sorry
good luck

You can't have a period and be pregnant. You can be pregnant and bleed and mistake it for a period though. If that is the case, the HPT should work regardless.
I suggest taking a test if you suspect you are pregnant. If you're period does not come, go see a doc. If it does. Then more then likely you are not pregnant and just having unusual cycles.
I wouldn't go for a blood test unless you were pretty much sure. No sense in racking up medical bills unless really needed.

Ide got a get a test to put your mind at rest a little. In order for either test to show positive traces of pregnbancy hormones must be found. You could be pregnant, but be experiencing spotting, which should be checked out, so the sooner you find out the sooner you can start your anti-nmatel care. Good luck

The test will show results if you are no matter what. Wait until your flow stops, then take the test, you don't want blood in your urine for the test. Good Luck!

Still take the test and make an appointment with your doctor. Make sure you let her/him know that it's common to have your period throughout your pregnancy.
I've heard that you should take the test around a week after you should have had your period.

If you are pregnant the test will show it period or no period...it did mine and that was years ago when the over the counter ones were not as reliable as today

When pregnant, your body makes a certain hormone that can be dected in your urine. This should show up if you are pregnant, no matter if you are still having periods.
