Because "God" as you are referring to him, her or it is just a invention but men who were trying influence people for whatever reason. They actually had no idea if there is a god and if so what that god is and nor does anyone else who is alive or has ever been alive.
9/11 was the result of some men using religion to give themselves power. It has been done many times in the past and on occasion with similar disastrous results

The same question could have been asked when Pearl Harbor was hit, and thousands of our boys are still lying in underwater graves. Or how about Hitler and the hundreds of thousands killed in the concentration camps?
This is the deal:
This earth age is about choice. Before Adam and Eve, there was a great war. Satan rebelled, and took a third of our people along with him, then there were many who stayed neutral, then there was a group who stayed on the side of God. The war ended with the destruction of heaven and earth. When you read in Genesis of what people think is the first creation, it isn't. It is a refurbishing to get the earth back to being able to inhabited. God could have just killed the one-third who rebelled with satan; instead, he decreed that we would all come thru this earth age to make a choice of who we would follow. Thats why even though satan was judged and condemned to death after that war, God still keeps him around, because you can't make a fair choice unless you have comparitors. So here you are along with everyone else, and you have free will (for the scholar, yes I know the elect do not have free will). God will not interfere with that free will. If he does, then many people when judgement comes, could say, "well, God maybe I would have done it differently, but you interferred".
Well, ya won't be able to say that. He left this earth age right up until he returns, in the hands of man, who screws up every single thing he touches. And here we are.
So when things happen that are horrible, don't blame him.
This is what happens when God steps aside, and lets man have the choice.
When He returns, it won't be for crucifiction this time; He's coming back with a rod of iron, and I assure you that things will get straightened out. Nobody is getting away with anything.

Your question implies a very narrow view of God. Sees much more than we can ever hope to in this life. We would not even be able to even begin to comprehend all that He does.

When He created man, one of the most important qualities that He gave to us was free will. The ability to choose and act for ourselves. When people choose to do evil, by virtue of His own law, He generally will not stop it for we are all here to show if we would follow God or not. One day there will be a final judgment where we will be judged as to whether we followed Him or not. We will gain our reward based on that judgment. If He intervened every time someone tried to do evil, then that judgment could never take place.

He loves us all, that is true. He is saddened when we choose not to follow Him. But He will not force that upon us. We must choose for ourselves.

God does not see death in the same manner as we do. He knows that this life is but a microsecond in comparison to the eternities that we shall live. That this life is a focal point, that is true. But still, we must ALL have the right to make our own choices whether those choices are good or bad is entirely up to us.

God was there and God will be there if it happens again but since God is pushed out, removed and not wanted from a lot of placed and since he is a respecter of man he leaves is along.
So we have no right in complaining to God about where was he when it was us that don't want him.

Look at the Noah's Ark, 120 years were given for people to believe while the ark was built.

Sodom & Gomorah Abraham asked God for mercy upon the city if there was one righteous person God said he would spare the city if one was found, none were.

fastward to Jesus, God so loved the world that he gave is only begotten Son so that we would not perish.
Has the world embraced him??
NO, the world has rejected him but Gods mercy and grace is still upon is and God has not yet sent his full judgment to fall upon the earth.

So where was he during 9/11, he was here. Where is He today he is here and he is still in power and sitting at his throne in glory.

God was there taking care of the people. He allowed this to happen to America to wake us up. We have all become complacent, and not too many people were worshiping Him. Since 9/11 many people have started searching for God. He also allowed us to see the evil in the world. He is also letting us know that we are getting ready for the end times. Read Matthew 24, and Revelation. Sin is so rampant in America, and on TV. Most people in other countries believe America is all the way the TV shows. Even though they are stories. They don't know that. They believe we are all rich, and powerful when in actuality we are not. There are many poor in America, but they don't see that.

Each one of us was given a "Free Will". Each of those involved chose to do this.

But, what happened after? America united. We prayed. Our eyes were opened. We will never be the same because of it.

But whose to say He didn't? To me, 9/11 was a failure. None of those planes were full, with a person in each seat. The trade centers weren't full to the max and open for business yet. Yes it was a horrible event, but statisically, it was a failure. There should have been way more lives lost. Even if they had waited just one more hour, it would have been way worse. Think about that.....

Bad things always happen. And good things can come out of those bad things.

Good question.

Maybe God thought that it was time for all those people to be released from the horrors of this painful life. At the same time use them to show one of the greatest evils on this earth.

This is just my thought but: In the 20 minutes it took for the towers to fall, how many people do you think found God and prayed for their immortal soul?
Many of those who were trapped have stories of angels who sat with them while they waited for rescuers. I don't think God abandoned anyone on 9/11.

God bless

I find it amazing how everyone asks these types of questions. When bad things happen to us, we blame God, but when good things happen to us, does anyone ever thank God? Is God to be blamed for the Tsunami a few years ago as well? God is sovereign. We all have a perspective problem, which is, we are always looking at the "me" side of the equation. God's purpose is not to please us, our purpose is to please God! I wouldn't put up with a robot I made if it disobeyed my commands, but thankfully, God is not like me, and God did not make us robots either.

before you asked this question you should of looked the statics of the day.

Over 3000 people called in sick that day. That was a 36% rise from the month before.

1789 people just didn't turn up for work.

567 people had handed in there resignation and left the month leading up to the disaster.

97 people had got relocated to other offices on that day.

The Lord works in mysterious ways my friend. Maybe he tried to save more people but they were not willing to listen.

What do you think?

Your blaming the wrong God.
The God who created this earth and all in it, through Adam's sin, (And he was the original owner until he sinned,) surrendered the ownership of earth to Satan. Yes, Satan is the acknowledged owner of the earth, and the present God of it.
Get your facts straight.
It is said he goes about like a roaring lion seeking to destroy, and THAT my friend is what he did @ 9/11.
