Ok, prom is in like 3 months, and I have gained a little weight since like homecoming. I really want to look good at prom because I'm gonna be like 1 of 2 freshmen there. Is there anything that would work wonders on my body. I'm 5'5.5" and I'm kinda toned. I weigh 140, but I don't over look it. I want a diet and exercise thing that would really work. Please help.

3 months is a realistic amount of time to tone up (and drop a few pounds if you want to)

Start by cutting down on your fat intake - make sure the fats you DO eat are of good quality - Oily fish like mackerel or sardines, for example.

Do not exclude fat completely - your hair and skin will suffer and your body will think you are starving and will try to hold onto the fat you already have!

Good quality diet, plenty of fruit and veg......but you know that, right?

OK, so I am assuming you are healthy, and have permission to exercise from your doctor?

If you have access to a gym, go along and see a qualified personal trainer for a program.

If not, do it yourself! The web has plenty of sites that illustrate different types of exercises.
Plenty of walking/jogging, weight training with bottles of water, if you don't have any weights (shoulder presses/press ups/pec fly/reverse prone fly, for those arms and shoulders if you are gonna be wearing an off the shoulder dress.

Aim to burn fat with cardio exercise (anything that gets you sweaty for at least 20 mins non stop - build up to that if you can only manage 2 mins to start with) On a scale of 1 -10 you should aim to work out at around 4-5 level intensity.

To tone muscles - exercises like above for the upper body, and stuff like lunges, squats for your legs/butt
To tone your tummy, a variety of sit ups, and remember that losing a little fat will help your abs to look great.

Good luck Have a great prom

I've been out of high school for a while but this is what I did and it worked. I would cut out all caffeine or soda products out of your diet. Drink a lot more water and natural juices (not the sugary stuff). Start doing 15 situps or crunches every night before you go to bed and first thing in the morning when you wake up. Same with push-ups. Just do your limit at first. Work your way up until you can do 2 or 3 sets each time you do them. Trust me, you will see some results in about 3 weeks if you stick to it. Lay low with all the carbs your intake too. Good luck at prom and don't stress over it too much. I'm sure you'll look beautiful.

at 5'5" and 140 lb you have a body mass index of 23.3

that is a HEALTHY BMI. You are _not_ in "dire need" of a diet an exercise program.

A ten pound loss would put you in the center of the healthy range, but you're fine where you are, and the person who asked you to the prom thinks you look fine, since you got asked.

Concentrate on staying healthy. Rapid weight loss results in unhealthyness and leads to a cycle of up and down and up and down weight.

You've been doing something right so far, stay very close to where you are.

You are not exercising and hence slightly overweight. You should try to exercise. It is the only tool to keep healthy and give MUSCLE TONE.
You should use sprouts and salads when you feel good hunger. That way you will get natural vitamins.
Thus regular exercise and natural vitamin and protein diet will give you good body tone and natural shine.

it sounds like a healthy weight to me but if u want to lose just a few lbs fast, the atkins diet helped me after i had my kids. u don't have to go hungry, just stay away from carbs. that and just going on walks at a bit faster pace helped a lot
