Are American girls "desperate"?

About me: I'm 27 - a game programmer by profession and tall, dark handsome like other Indian guys - it's just that I have observed some strange things about a few American girls I interacted with - based on that, many American girls are CRAZY or what

1. TWO MONTHS BACK: I was registered with a Penpal site and a 28-year old attractive Blonde from Pennsylvania suddenly comes to me and says "SHE WANTS TO MARRY ME" - was sounding desperate - and she says she would sponsor my US visa and all - I just said "I AM NOT PREPARED" - after a few phone calls, the story ended.

2. 15 DAYS BACK: There was another lady from Missouri (she said she worked with health agency) came with a similar proposition from AOL -again, she WAS DESPERATE.

3. TODAY: I was in a chat room where another girl comes from Georgia and she wants to COME DOWN to India and later she will sponsor my visa.

None of these events are related but what I wonder is WHY ARE SO MANY LADIES DESPERATE -they behave like Russian

Please note I am not at all lying - I would be just happier if someone was to SPONSOR my visa - but I am just too baffled by the turnout of these episodes -Also, most of these ladies seem to be WELL-SETTLED - what could be their motive still to seek out foreigners???

Maybe outright adventurous. Imagine - to meet a handsome stranger (who in a way depends on you, so this also gives you a tickling feeling of power), to travel to an exotic country and meet exotic people, whose language and customs you do not understand. Or to bring this exotic person to your dull everyday life and everything he says or does is new, unfamiliar, interesting and therefore exciting. The whole thing is challenging and risky. (Nobody talks of eternal love, although it would be an added bonus if it happens).

And surely not all women would do it, but look at the stories in the pink paperbacks! Why not try and ''make a dream come true'', the happy ending being ''...and she fell into his arms.''
Who cares what happens next :)

I read that story too, I think it was in the Daily Telegraph or the Liverpool Echo (I read one after the other so I can't remember). But it does seem odd for an American child to be living with a Moroccan family. They could have adopted her I suppose, presuming they were rich enough. But the article, if I remember rightly, didn't mention anything along the lines of 'Oh yeah, the family were well off, so she was probably adopted'.

I know a lot of girls in the U.S. that are not racing to get married, which is good news for me because I'm not either. But there are others that feel like they need a man, watch out for them they are potential stalkers(trust me).
My sister is single, and I have seen her turn down marriage proposals, and these guys are still pursuing her.
I guess it all just matters on what you want in this world.

Since you're information is coming from the internet/ online chat groups, for all you know these people could be men sending you their daughter's or co-workers picture. You get what you diserve with internet dating as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure there are some desperate women out there but there are just as many desperate men.

I don't think its all American women.Perhaps its where you are "meeting" them. I am happily married but never felt the need to go on any dating,chat etc sites before I was married.You are just running into a group of people that may not be as they represent themselves to be.They not be attractive to others or to themselves and thus have a difficult time finding a man .(even tho looks aren't everything)I don't know anyone like that but trust me you are wise to stay far away from that type of person from any country.Have you heard about the women from Russia and that part of the world ?Be wise and just don't get involved with anyone on line in any way,

There is nothing like someone is desperate you have just run into a few people who in the mean time i cant explain their behaviour and their character only socioligists might do.. i will urge you to look elsewhere.
