You must interact with the person more often. I suggest that your should go out together more often and talk with them. This allows the person to reveal their characteristics one by one to you but also allowing the person to know you more. Remember seeing the person on the outside might not be his or her true colours. By knowing each other characteristics, you will be able to know or guess more accurately what he or she is thinking of.

The Learning Channel had a program on this subject a little while ago...scans of the brain where done on test subjects who had a proven ability to accurately 'read' another person, while other subjects could not. All subjects where monitored during their attempts to 'read' a person's mind in order to know what they were thinking or what they perhaps wanted to do or had done.

Surprisingly, those that proved most accurate had brain activity located in the frontal lobe area of their brain during their attempts while those who were not able to provide any accuracy, had no activity.

How the reading of a mind/intent is done really isn't a fully explainable thing by someone who is capable of doing it...the most common response by them is "I just do", "I just know". Some people have quick flashes of bits and pieces of scene like very fast clips of a movie...others have more sensory and auditory than visual...they feel what the person is feeling (anger, stress, calm) and they hear in language, what the person is thinking etc.

Others have to touch something in order to bring about any sort of insight. We all do this to an extent...deja vu for instance, is a form of insight. How does one know or feel that they've done something before when they haven't. Yet they can describe at times what will happen...and it does.

Body language also plays a role for some people...so, science is investigating that some people have an ability to do these things because of certain activity that is triggered within the brain.

There are people who DO have this ability however they are overshadowed by people who don't but pretend they do...I can name a few 'celebrity' types who have made big dollars pretending to have these abilities...and when shams are uncovered, the world at large scoffs at ALL those who may have claim to these abilities. It's unfortunate because those who truly can do these things, do so for the good of others and not because they think they can make big dollars. These people aren't heard of however because they don't want to be ridiculed about something closed minds scoff at.

I don't think anybody can really read minds, but sometimes you can figure out what somebody's intentions are. You might have to base it on past experience though. Sometimes the way somebody talks, or the words they use, or even their body language can give you clues as to what their intentions may be. I think I'm good at it sometimes, and other times I just can't figure people out. People who are really good at it probably are more successful in life. I feel I get misread by other people a lot, and it's pretty frustrating.

I just thought of something to add: Sometimes you can figure out somebody's intentions by hearing how they talk about other people or things in general--it often applies to the person talking because people often project their faults on other people. That is, if somebody says things like 'You can't trust anybody these days' it could mean the person talking can't be trusted. I have seen this happen more than once.

How many times have you said to yourself, " I KNEW that person was lying to me" "I KNEW I shouldn't have done what that person said to do". "I KNEW I shouldn't have listened to him/her... just knew it".

We all have the ability to know when something is wrong . But frequently we don't want to BELIEVE it. It's VERY hard to confront the possibility that someone would lie to us or do anything to hurt us, especially if we wouldn't do that to another person. It's easier and more comfortable to believe them than to question them.

SO the very best way - not perfect, by any means - to determine someone's intentions is to ask a LOT of questions of them. And then, watch their body language. Do they fail to look you in the eye? Do they blow you off? Do they say "Don't worry about it". Do they rush you? Do they - as one answerer said -use big words to throw you off? Do they change the subject? Are they too quick to answer?

If you are even mildly insistent upon an answer to your questions and their intentions are not sincere, they usually won't continue the ruse.

On the other hand, if the person is interested and thoughtful in their answers, looks you in the eye and doesn't make fun of you for asking, you're probably OK..

Hope this helps.

There is another way. It is playing the odds. I am a profiler of sorts. It is something I have done since I was little. I watch people and examine their attitudes. As you talk to people you can see what type background they come from, their social upbringing. How they view themselves, and their perceptions of the world around them. You pick up on little details of conversation and body posture, unknown stresses on certain words. Or they might avoid certain topics or become choosy in their choice of words. What type language do they use. If a person is speaking normal about baseball and all of a sudden changes their style of talk, like using bigger words, then they usually are trying to show that they are smart, or are uncomfortable with the topic. It is all of these things. Most of these things you already know, you just have to realize the significance of these actions. As time goes on, it gets easier.

you cant reads a person mind! something interesting though, scietist say that at the back of the brain there is an unused area that might have been used in communicating with the mind.

but again these all are maybe's.

no u cant, even if they tell u something!! they may say it not to hurt u !!

u can never read any1's mind or true feeling unless u see their expression or other ways.

sometimes u can feel if some is lying to u, but even that is nover 100%, even if u where right it all maybe.

all i am saying u are NEVER 100% SURE!!

Everyone has the capability of reading a persons mind or intentions of their heart.
It is a gut feeling more than anything..I don't think it is hearing voices or seeing things, it is just listening to your gut feeling, reading body language, tone of voice, facial expressions..ect (subconciously)..all these together compile a story of what someone is thinking or feeling.
You might be able to disguise something in your words, but your body is saying something totally different. Your voice will sound different when you lie then if you are saying the truth, abnormal personality behavior if you lie..ect
But we always want to go with what our brain tells us..and sometimes when something does not make sense we will go with what is logic, instead of what we are feeling, based on what we have processed or received from someone else..
It is not something that can be taught, it is something that you are born with...just get back in tune with your gut feeling..

Your heart is an organ. It pumps blood. it does not store information and isnt capable of being "pure" Your mind has that job. so seeing as you feel with your brain, actually, since thats where the emotions are stored, if you have a corrupt mind, you have a corrupt heart.

at times, but somethimes depending on the person, they can cover things up very good. But overall, people who live their lives as themselves they are always easy to read and that is great. MO.
