Both. He's THE Elixir of Life - and if you like Him too much he can be can be an opportunistic infection. But wait! It's the people so-called "representing" Him that made Him an opportunistic infection. But wait again! Without religion you'll still think of Him... and yeah... you'll still love Him and love life too. So back to square one - YES - He's BOTH.

God is neither an "infection," nor an "elixir" (which seems to me to translate into a genie in a bottle).
He is there for all who seek Him.
He does not create evil, but He does allow it for our good and His glory (for all who know Him--Christians).
He will not take away all of our tribulations. Once a Christian you will not have a perfect, non-troublesome life. Therefore He is not an elixir (genie in a bottle) that when we have a problem, we can say, God take it away now. There will be times He removes our troubles and other times that we have to endure.

I SEE NOT ONE NATION AMONG ALL THE NATIONS SERVING GOD AT ALL,IN THE TRUTH,FOR THEY NO LONGER KNOW THE TRUE MEANING OF LIFE AND LIFE MEANS NOTHING TO ALL,THE INFECTION OF HATE BRINGS DEATH TO THE LIGHT WITHIN YOUR SOUL AND ARE NOT ALIVE IN TRUE ESSENCE AND ARE DEAD .ITS ALL TALK AND NO ACTION,LIKE THEY SAY,I HAD DREAM AND THAT'S ALL IT EVER WILL BE IN REALITY.THE ELIXIR OF LIFE GIVING EVER LASTING LIFE,WAS TAKEN AWAY IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN,FOR DISOBEYING THE WORD OF GOD AND ALL OF MANKIND HAVE BEEN EATING OFF THE TREE OF GOOD AND EVIL EVER SINCE THEN AND DIE. THE TREE` OF LIFE IS GIVEN TO THOSE THAT BURN DOWN THAT TREE OF DEATH WITHIN THEM.COME TO EAT OFF THAT TREE OF LIFE IN THE NEW BEGINNING,FOR OUT OF THAT TREE IS THE TWELVE LEAVES OF HEALING THE NATIONS ,DRINK FROM THE RIVER OF LIFE THAT SPRINGS FORTH FROM THAT TREE IN PARADISE.
