Yes, there is a lot of name-calling on here. Try not to add to the situation, please. We should learn to teach with love not harsh words.

If People express opinions that others find unsavory in this medium there can be solace taken in that they are not out in the real world causing strife and there is a chance that they may adjust their thinking and recant some of the less social thoughts expressed here. All in all I don't find the People here to be offensive, there are exceptions but they are few and far between. Lots of things that I don't particularly agree with or for that matter care about are put forward and I have had fun throwing in my particular slant on the subjects for my own amusement but each Person does have a right to think what they will, it is the only true freedom we have. I would rather know than not know, secrets are disturbing when it contains an evil or malicious thought. Take care and thank You for asking this interesting question.

All? Oh, no; they're distributed throughout this Yahoo feature, but obviously, the two most flammable topics known to man are religion and politics.

This isn't what I would call a place to expect a high degree of mature, intelligent dialogue. It's more of a flame war arena, where people can just fling anonymous insults.

I try to find a few questions that I would consider "genuine" or "sincere" and answer them. And there are plenty I just scroll right on past, like a wreck on the highway. No need to even stop and look.

People are people and we are all at different places with these things. Its scary to open ourselves up to what is bigger than ourselves. Everyone struggles with pride. I know I do.

I guess that is why emotions ride high where ultimate loyalties and the deepest beliefs are concerned.

I'd be careful with labelling 'the many' as bigots, though. Slamming a whole bunch of people who you do not know can be dangerous for your spiritual health.

Go well, and make sure you are part of the solution.

Uh, YEAH! Religion just happens to be part of the title of this section. That should have given it away from the start. If you 're looking for tolerant people, then go to the food section. There aren't very many people who don't like food!

I think this section just makes them easier to spot ;-)

It's hard to pick out the bigot in the stocks & bonds section.

What do you expect from a faith-based philosophy that specifically deals in Objective Morality? Compassion? Understanding? Of course not. To allow exceptions into an objectively based morality system would be a direct violation of the very definition of Objective Morality.

My theory on this is that....to make a generalization...bigots tend to be less well educated, and because of that, less well off financially. I think they are less likely to have jobs. So they are more likely to be at home with plenty of time on their hands posting their ignorant beliefs whereever they can.

Red Mage,

People may say some crazy things here they wouldn't say in person?

I disagree, I think in person they would say the same and it would only escalate to battle and people being physically hurt or killed.

Be glad we have a place for people to vent!

Well, at least we can find them - here and in LGBT - makes them easier to target.

My question is: why do they post hateful messsages without the courage to open their IM or EM for debate.

Of course, I DO already know the answer to that.

CMW: only the irreligious are bigots? hahahahahahaha!
