I'm an American living and working in Poland. I have been here for some time and I've met the man of my dreams here. We just got engaged here in Poland and we are living together. He is a physician. We would like to move to the US. Is it better that we get married in Poland or America?
Would it also be a good idea if he comes to America on a tourist visa and I go to city hall and marry him the next day?

Get married in Poland, then file an I-130 and a G-325a for each of you with the supporting documents directly at the US consulate that handles immigration visas. If you have any specific questions about immigration you might look into the following website. WWW.visajourney.com it is a forum where people who are in various stages in the immigration process for bringing their families to the US. I am sure that there are many there who like you have a Polish spouse and working on bringing them over.

If you are trying to get him the fastest way possible, get married over in Poland. Still, I would check with the American Embassy and see if that's all you need, or if the marriage would be considered legal. (I have a friend in Sweden...Sweden has two types of marriages they consider legal, but only one is considered legal by U.S. standards. Since they have "the other one", their kids are U.S. citizens, but she still isn't.)
