I mean, let's say that God does not exist, at least in the religious way.

Is it plausible that people could be fooled into believing that a God(s) exist when in actuality one does not?

Is it possible that the idea of God has simply evolved beginning with one that was easily proven to not exist and the fairy tale was adjusted each time to make disproving the fairy tale more and more difficult?

Would you agree that this is possible with respect to some God(s)?

As a matter of fact, you have to agree that any God(s) other than your God(s) are false. Right?

For the record, I am Agnostic.

I refuse to believe that a God either exists or does not exist. I do not have enough evidence to make the determination either way.

I however can and have made a determination that Islam, Christianity and Judaism are man made fairy tales.

daood,

Most intelligent people know what an Agnostic is.

I stated that I am an Agnostic and I practically gave you the definition.

You still don't understand what an Agnostic is?

Maybe you need to clear your mind!

For the record, some of you need to learn to read and comprehend before you attempt to answer questions.

I never said that I believe God or a God(s) does not exist. For simiplicity I actually worded the question such that it would imply that I believe God exist but if he didn't then bla bla bla.

Also, I believe in the possibility that a God may very well exist but I highly doubt that if a God exist this God would be anything like the one described in ANY religions.

How can I deny the existence of someone I have a close, intimate interaction with everyday? If He was just some "philosophy" or "idea" or "concept" - maybe so but He isn't any of those things. He is a real, solid, living entity that interacts with me. Could I deny the existence of my mother, my lover, my very breath just because you have never met or experienced their existence? No - sorry, I will never deny the reality of my God.

I don't currently try to convince people of God's existence - that's not my job and I'd mess it up big time if I did - that's God's job. My job is to simply present the Gospel of Jesus - it's yours to accept or reject it.

Plausible - there are many who have worshiped false 'gods' - but is it plausible that God does not exist? No, it is not plausible. The intricacies with which this world have been formed speak to a creator.

Possible that the idea has been changed to make a fairy tale more believable? There are many attempts to make God into an image humans understand and can accept - the Greek 'gods' had human frailties - some populations made 'gods' out of fire, earth, stone - today people elevate things and celebrities to a godlike status - so this has been happening since mankind turned away from the true God. Is it possible that God does not exist? If I did not know Him, then I'd follow your logic; however, I do know Him, so no.

Do I agree that any 'god' other than 'my' God is false - yes - not because I believe it to be so (although I do), but because He Himself said so.

I am neither Christian, nor Jew, nor Muslim, but I disagree with your assessment. It is not that a fairy tale has grown over time to create God. It is that the knowledge of God has become degraded. Now, God is given human qualities, human frailties, human faults, and human logic. This was not always the case. The vedic culture had at one time a global existence, in which the knowledge of God and demi-gods was accepted as fact. Even in the bible, we can see that there is a distinction between God and the demi-gods. In the KJV, sometimes God is spelled with a capital letter, and sometimes spelled in the lower case. The lower case spelling indicates a demi-god, a living being with a higher consciousness than human, but still not the Supreme Personality of Godhead. So much information has been edited, altered, misinterpreted, and ignored, so that now the bible has no integrity, yet people are being misled into believing every word of it.

Uhm, no disrespect to prior posters (sincerely), but I dont think any of you really understood (or answered) the question. Except Duke Raoul--rock on.

Yeah, I think it is very possible. The same way that the Roman and Greek gods and goddesses were believed in. The same way that people used to truly believe in vampires and witches. The same way that children believe in Santa until you tell them otherwise. The same way that urban legends persist.

The same way that people believe CASEY JONES is a fictional character in folklore (but he really existed) The same way that people believe the declaration of independence was signed on July 4th. Apparently, it was first signed on July 2nd. (see source below)

People believe whatever they're taught as children. And reject all alternative views as adults.

So yeah, its possible these religions started as rumors (for lack of better word).

Is it probable? I don't know. I dont think that was your question anyway?

Peace be with you.

Have you ever acted a certain way, and found that your actions were not accepted by others?

Have you ever had a dream that was so vivid, that it seemed real?

This is God in your life. The next time you have a dream try to get and understanding of the dream. The dream will often come in two parts, compare them.

Now for your faith, I give you a revelation, the revelation is not mine, it is Jesus' and he gave it to all that would obey HIS Commandments (75 of them).

The 10th President of the United States shall fall to Gog and Magog, President George W. Bush is the 9th President.
Gog is China and Magog is Russia, they were from the land of Nod.

You maybe right to be an agnostic, but the god that you think may exist can only exist in your heart. It is just a belief. You cannot prove it to anyone. It can pass your own tests, not everybody else' tests.

They already have.

Gods have not gotten more sophisticated for at least 2000 years. I suppose you could say the Christian God evolved for Old Testament brutal ruthless republican to New Testament bleeding-heart liberal democratic with the birth of his imaginary son.

The Judaeo-Christian-Islamic Gods of Abraham were invented by some obscure quasi-historic tribes of Semitic goat herders who lived more than 2000 ago years and reflect the knowledge and beliefs of people who lived in a pre-Copernican, pre-Newtonian, pre-Darwinian, and pre-Industrial world.

If GOD do not exist that means nobody exists.
You have to put in mind that GOD is the creator of all. The beginning and the end.

And if that is your thinking then you are just like a pop corn that just pop away. Think what matter most if no GOD who created all things.

Evidentally, you are not able to read or choose to believe in fairy tales by the sound of your question. GOD has certainly proven HIS existence to me from the complexity of this planet. IT is quite impossible for me to believe that this earth can not tilt more that 5% over it's present tilt and exist, that the earth can not be 10% closer or farther away from the sun and sustain life as it now wxists, that man was able to have such a complex pattern of DNA by accident, that we have come as far as this with HIS Invervention. GOD does exist. We have proof positive of Jesus Christ's existence and the prophesies of HIS COMING were all met only in HIM. HE is the Jewish Messiah that was crucified so that we could be saved from everlasting HELL.

Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
HEAR - Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
BELIEVE - In Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
REPENT - Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
CONFESS CHRIST - 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
BE BAPTIZED - Romans 6:3-4 do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL - Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

You are forgetting that besides believing in God is the fact that he is the creator so no God, no people to go around convincing.
