A few factors are involved in determining this...but this drug specifically is normally deemed effective beginning 1-2 hours after ingesting provided plasma levels are at peak...in other words, your body is readily receptive. It's effects usually last 6-20 hours for a single dose.

It's normally perscribed in increments, small dosages, usually 3 times per day. Dizziness, disorientation is possible and in some cases irritability is possible.

Driving vehicles or doing anything that might require good eye/hand or attention dexterity is to be avoided if possible until you know how you react to this.

Ensure doctor weens you off this med as side effects can result otherwise, once he's prepared to stop this particular treatment (ie changes you to another drug etc)

Good luck

It will kick in about an hour after you take it. Xanax is the non-generic version. They are great for anxiety & stress but they are very addictive. So be careful.
