What if humans were souly to blame For the changes in our climate due to us polluting the atmosphere?
With only 10 years to reduce global emissions by 50% otherwise it’s too late to undo the damage we have already done.
What drastic steps (differences) would we have to make to our now normal way of life in order to give us and our grandchildren and their children chance of life and hopefully normal global temperatures?

If we did have only 20 years before Global warming was irreversible and billions of humans would die from the subsequent effects, I still cannot see the entire worlds population uniting in harmony to tackle the problem. The human nature is selfish and denies there might even be a problem (ahh it wont happen while I am alive so I don’t care). Some people say (but there is no substantial proof that this warming effect is not down to us it might just be a cycle). Well even if it’s a just a climate cycle we still don’t know the serious effects the climate will have on the inhabitation of the Earth. Will humans stop raping the planet of its resources? In the future, Humans must face up to the fact that they will have to change dramatically the way they live and go back to basics. Everything we take for granted will at one time in the future need to come to an end if we want to survive, we cannot sustain the growing Human population and demand for things we take for granted.

The time scale is slightly longer than that - 25years, gulp. And we don't have to reduce our emissions to 50% of todays levels - just keep them constant.
That said see An Inconvenient Truth for 10 easy ways to make a big difference. eg. use energy saving light bulbs - what's hard about that? Use public transport more. Don't put electronic equipment on standby - turn them off. Keep your tyres inflated to the correct pressure. Try and recycle stuff if you can. Make greener choices in the things you buy and consume: read the lables - its simple stuff.
Me - I've just bought a bike and I'm going to cycle to work. It'll save me money on petrol and get me and keep me fit. Now there's dedication for you..(notice how I seem to be better off making this choice? That happens quite a lot when you get into the swing of things - why not give it a go yourself?)

I don't have, or intend to put children on this dying stinking planet.
But:
Energy saving light bulbs.
Some solar panels on your house.
Maybe a solid fuel boiler (decaying wood etc, gives off CO2 as it decays anyway)
If you have a school run EITHER give it up, or pick up some more children on the way. Might as well drop by the recycling centre as well on the way.
Share a car with work colleagues, if you really need to get to work by car. Public transport is a better option
Stop flying( I managed)
You might find this is inconvenient, or maybe expensive.
It's not me that will have to tell your children why that mater more than their health, and maybe lives.

There are many things we could do, here are two:
- free public transport, for everyone, everywhere. At the moment it's cheaper for many to use their cars, so who can blame them ? Since I got my Freedom Pass, I get free public transport in London and it has transformed my life.
- Tax aircraft fuel. It's outrageous that airlines and their passengers pay no tax on fuel, while motorists pay a lot. I speak as one who does a lot of air travel (just back from Australia; New York, Cuba, India, China and Australia again, planned for this year) so it would affect me, and I would happily pay the higher fares. When I go to Europe I use Eurostar.

It's much too late to 'stop it' ... take a look at the rate of Industrialisation of China (25% of the world) .....
"50% reduction in 10 years" ... have you ANY IDEA how long it would take to make such a major change the in way we live ?
I suggest you think about moving to higher ground (before all the best bits are taken) instead.

Humans are not souly to blame for global warming, many natural phenomena are at work besides us.
We are major polluters of the atmosphere and we are the only ones capable of being aware of it.
The onus is souly on the human race to attempt to rectify it.

We should make city transit accessable in the suburbs. We don't need two cars per family. With the internet, we can reduce paper waste, simply by subscribing to your daily news via e-mail. Also, those annoying paper ads they put with your mail - they just need to go away. Recycling should be like a mandatory utility like water or sewerage....

If you can find me any other thing, person, animal, alien, or cause, for the present state we're in, then i'm sure the experts would dearly love to know.Otherwise, accept the glaring absolute fact, that we, the HUMANS, are solely to blame.
Don't go looking for anything else.
