Last year i started a partime job working 10 hours per week with my husband working full time ,i was awarded child tax credits of £200.00 per month based on my earnings but i have worked quite a bit of over time since i began work and i have changed from 10 hours to 18 hours a week,I did inform them of my changed hours in Oct but i couldn't tell them my top line as i never got my wage slip and i just forgot to get back to them, now i'm worried.

you will have to pay it back, it is up to you to inform them as they say in their adverts on TV.

aslong as you are still claiming tax credits any overpayment can be taken from future tax credits at around 10% of your payments at the time. The important thing is you have informed them of changes in your circumstances. Don't worry :-)

If you have been overpaid this will be deducted from the calculation of what you are entitled to for the next year...the will either ask for it back gradually over 4 months or they will take it all back at once deduction it from what they pay you.
