If you need to copy charts from Excel to Powerpoint, all you need todo is highlight the chart in Excel, and copy it either with the edit menu or right click, then goto powerpoint and click paste. It will paste it as a picture and you may do whatever you like with it. You can even recreate the chart in powerpoint if you must by clicking the chart button (looks like a bar graph)

Hope that helps!

Import a Microsoft Excel chart
On the Insert menu, click Chart.
Switch to the datasheet (datasheet: A table included with a chart that provides sample information showing where to type your own row and column labels and data.). If the datasheet is not visible, click View Datasheet to display it.
If you want the imported data to begin at a cell other than the upper-left cell on the datasheet, select the cell you want.
On the Edit menu, click Import File.
In the Look in box, click the drive, folder, or Internet location that contains the file, and click the *.xls file format in the Files of type box.
Double-click the file you want to import.
In the Import Data Options dialog box, select the sheet you want to import. You can import only one sheet.
Do one of the following:

To import all the data on the worksheet, click Entire sheet under Import.

To import part of the data, click Range, and then type the range of data you want. For example, to import cells A1 through B5, type A1:B5 in the Range box. If the range is named, you can type the name instead of the range reference.
If you selected a cell in step 3, clear the Overwrite existing cells check box.

I find the site http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx very useful. Oncw you join and register you can ask very specific questions and within a day or so you get expert answers or links to answers. It helped me a great deal with spreadsheets and I can guess it would help with powerpoint,

I can only suggest going to www.download.com or using a file sharing program such as Limewire and Kazaar to get some ReadMe tutorials.

You can select & copy from the original & paste into Powerpoint; seems too easy, but you can!
