Because we are told to submit to our earthly rulers. And they say that marijuana is bad so we shouldn't smoke it.

As a former drug user and alcoholic who looked into this I can tell you it's a sin. You come across verses like 1st Thessalonians 4:4, and 1st Corinthians 6:19-20 where our bodies are temples and to honor them as such come up. Smoking Marijuana is not a sin, anymore than drinking alcohol. Christ Himself drank. It's the motive though, and what inside you is ruling that desire to smoke (or drink). If it's the addiction, than it's sin ruling inside you. If it's to get high, than it's a desire for something other than the holy spirit. Paul wrote if your gonna get drunk, get drunk on the Holy spirit (Ephesians 5:18). Likewise, if your going to smoke, get stoned on the spirit of God. So is smoking a sin? Absolutely, unless it's by prescription for medicinal uses, or for other reasons you can explain to God. ALL unrighteousness is sin. (1 John 5:17)

Marijuana like all medicinal plants were created for our use not misuse,in a spiritual sense habitual use will dull the sense to a degree that the mind will be open to diabolical suggestion.
On a physical level, over use of any narcotic will have long term damaging effects, God gave us such plants for medicinal purposes only.

Everything that God made is good, and has a purpose, but Man misuses it, and it becomes a Sin.
I personally believe that Marijuana can be useful as a medical drug, but it's misuse has made it a problem.

A sin is going against your parents and or the law. So if the law says it's OK to do something and you parents say it is OK. Is it a sin not to do the act. (Think back to the Germans and the time around 43 when answering this question.) So maybe what is sin and what is not is very complex, and maybe, just maybe, there is no sin. There is just a social compact to what we all should do and not do and it is not based on a god.

It is not a sin. If you read New Testament it impliments Jesus smoking marijuana.
It is Government not being seperated from the Church which says it is a sin and against the law.
God created everything, Satan has no power to create. Only GOD can create.
GOD says Kitty go smoke marijuana so I do. It is called Free Will. As long as you abide by Gods 10 Commandments you are going to Heaven.
Does it say Thou shalt not do drugs. Of course not. It is not a sin.
And, note for own record I am an ordianed minister with a PhD in Theology from Catholic University, Washington, DC

Every sin is an abuse of what God has created for good. Look at alcohol, 80% of all drugs have an alcolhol base, but drunkeness is a sin. God gave us a tongue to speak, but backbitting, slander, talking too much, cursing, lying, etc are sins. Sex is totally right within marriage but outside of it it is a sin. It is abuse of the things that God gives us that is sin.

It is not a sin, no where anywhere does it say that cannabis is a sin. This is people who make up that it is a sin...

Yes its true that marijuana is a plant. However, what you do with that plant is the essential here. For example, when God gave us humans the intelligence to invent different things, he wanted us to use it for good, not for bad! Building the interstate for a better travel is good, but inventing something to harm others is definitely a sin. God can't deal with people who seem to enjoy causing harm to others.

Smoking marijuana is not a sin. It's a secular issue. I personally have no problem with smoking pot, but I do have an issue with your reasoning.
God created everything on earth, but that does not mean we are to put everything on earth in our mouths.

That's a pointless question - believing that God created everything does not make everything right.
if God created the earth and everything on it, why is clubbing defenseless babies considered a sin?
