Because they cannot think outside their little paradigm, they think deep down we all know their God exists/is the real one and are just being rebellious. I also think it’s a bit of projecting on their parts, when something goes wrong in their lives they have to attribute it to God (or Satan).
And as for Jeanmarie’s ludicrous statement that Christian beliefs date back to the beginning of time…my Gods were ruling the world when your’s was still in diapers honey. Christianity is a relative new comer on the scene when it comes to religion. There's a great many religion that FAR pre-date Christianity, you need to do some more homework.

Well, the Hindus believe in reincarnation of soul. The next birth depends on the Karma done in the previous life. Your good works may make you a better person.
The Muslims believe that your birth is according to the will of Allaha. The duty is to do what the Quran says.
The Bible says that evil is a fact of life affecting everyone, CHRISTIANS are NOT excluded from the bad things of life.
If any one says as you assume then they are phonny Christians.

First off our beliefs and opinions are not wrong and i am sick of people thinking that because we believe in God we lack in intelegence. those that think that are wrong. second not all af us think un-believers blame God for the bad things in thier lives. and just because you decided we all do does not make it so. you need to find a new hobby if you cant get your facts straight.
Just a thought though, maybe if your guys big point for why we should abandon God was not because he lets bad things happen, some Christians would not would not be so quick to think you guys blame God for all the bad things that happen.

OOooo bit of a blanket statement there - you think?
I know some of them can get annoying with the whole if you're a Pagan you worship the devil thing but come on hun lets get some perspective. Its the few shouting above the many, we have a lot more in common with the moderates than some people want to admit. And how do you know what they believe is wrong. It works for them so how can it be wrong?

Job 34:10......Therefore, YOU men of heart, listen to me.
Far be it from the [true] God to act wickedly,
And the Almighty to act unjustly!
Romans 9:14......What shall we say, then? Is there injustice with God? Never may that become so
Deuteronomy 32:4....... The Rock, perfect is his activity, For all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice; Righteous and upright is he.

You assume that I assume and I don't.
What do you base your Pagan beliefs on and what is your guide?
Your feelings?
Judeo Christian beliefs date back to the beginning of time on this earth. The bible is a historical book and many archaeologists have used it in their studies.
What do you do about the man Jesus? He was here on this earth and this is easily proven. Was he a great teacher? If he was then he lied. Was he a nut or was he who he claimed to be, God's son and the Christ.

Because of the arrogant, and abusive questions that are asked, that is why that assumption is made.
By the way. YOU are wrong anyway, YOUR belief, and YOUR opinion.

Well for a start atheists are unlikely to blame evolution as this would admit to weakness,so who else are they going to blame?
