When I am speaking with a friend, there is about 3 people that are doing this, but not at the same time. One will come up and say hello to the person I am speaking with and totally ignore me and try to carry on a conversation with the person I was speaking with. Should I say something to this person(s), say nothing, or just keep extending my hand to them and shaking it which is what I pretty much have been doing since I don't want to stoop to their levels. I have no idea why they are doing it but they do it.

A simple "Excuse me, but we were talking here!" will get the point across.

That's very rude and I completely understand. The person you were talking to should have said "excuse me" to the other guy and continue with your conversation.

A few weeks ago, I went to my child school and was walking down the hall with her teacher after a recital. We were having a conversation when someone rudely interrupted. The teacher then started talking to them. I walked off.

Both people are being rude. I would pipe up and say something like: "excuse me, but we were just in the middle of a conversation. Could you please wait?"

This way you aren't stooping to their level, but merely bringing to their attention the fact that they interrupted you.

I broke myself of the habit in interupting long ago so when it's done to me I get really annoyed especialy if I am saying something very intelligent sounding. It makes me feel like I'm not worth whlie to talk to.

I agree with KitKat. The person you're speaking to owes it to you to tell the intruders that she'll talk to them when her conversation with you is finished. Otherwise, she's indicating that your conversation isn't important.

They're doing this because you let them. If you have to get a little indignant for them to give you a little respect, then do it.
Try "If you wanted to speak to them so bad why didn't you call them?"

Both, the third party butting in and the friend you're initially talking with are being disrepectful. You can tell them (both!) that you're having your conversation and that they have to wait

Excuse me, was I not standing here talking? I am a person, please show me some respect. At least ask me if you can interrupt before doing it.
