you can divorce anywhere you'd like providing you have your proper marraige papers with you..

There is no need to go back there in order to get divorced. If you live in the UK, I'm sure that will be fine as a court jurisdiction.
I assume you didn't have a Mick Jagger/Jerry Hall "wedding" on the beach of course...
