I want to lose weight after having my second child. I excersise when I can, about 3 times a week for 20min. Not much but about all I can do at the moment with the 2 little ones. I have cut down on my eating but I'm not losing weight. Will replacing a meal with a protein shake help? If not what else could I do that is healthy.

hi as a nutritionist the using a good protein shake is an excellent way of helping to lose weight. dont buy the cheap grocery store ones they wont be anywhere near as good as the reputable companies. Stay off the sugary drinks, eat lots of fruit and veg and drink plenty of water every day. if you cant then whe you get a shake mix get some vitamin tablets aswell, any good company will supply both. I noticed someone recommended herbalife, they have been around a long time and are very good, you wont go wrong with them.

if you want to improve your health generally, lose weight and have more energy then getting some nutritional help is vital. Once your body starts to absorb the right nutrients and vitamins and protein then you’ll be amazed how quickly you will feel the difference, usually within the first 48 hours if you get the right supplements and help. I had no energy and felt just generally rotten all round so I sought the advice of a nutritional coach (whose advice was FREE) and got myself some great products, I even got free samples before I got started so I could see just how good they were!! The shakes are great and very tasty, not like the ones in the grocery store. Thye even provide you with lots of yummy shake recipes to mix it up a bit. There is a website called myhealthabc.com If go on there and fill out the details (you must be over 18 and you’ll need a debit or credit card-or someone who can help you) page you will get a call with no pressure about what you need. There is a mall area as well that’s got some great info and its all set out with easy to follow headings so you can find what you want. It’s so easy and the stuff they have is excellent. I have been using their products for over two years and I feel great. I lost 70 pounds in less than seven months!! My sister lost 60 pounds in five months. The stuff is amazing. Try them you won’t be disappointed. I even started to use their skin care range last year and my skin is in such good condition now.

Protein shakes are primarily used to build muscle, which means you'll probably gain weight -- steer clear.

The only tried, tested and healthy way to lose way is to lower your calorie intake and raise your exercise, thus burning calories. The problem is, it can take months for your metabolism to speed up, at which point you will start seeing results. You could try a herbal detox, which can help speed up your metabolism.

I would exercise more too. I was running for an hour a time, up to seven times a week and I think I lost about 2-3kg over 2 months (while cutting out all sugar and most fats)! But after a few months, things started to improve.

The older you get, the harder it is to shake those extra pounds.

Good luck!

Protein shakes can help you loose weight but they aren't meant to, they are mainly for supplementing your daily caloric intake, when you switch to a high protein diet your body will go through an adjustment period they it will stabilize out and use the extra protein to put the weight back on. The best thing that you can do is adjust your diet and start an exercise routine and then if you need protein make sure it is a lean mass builder, these are lower in calories.

yes, protein shakes work! Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 11 pounds and 21 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing toxins from your body. You get toxins from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The toxins get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the toxins. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck! I think rather than having protein shakes you should be consuming foods with high protein such as tuna, skilm milk, salmon and eggs. Protein powders are ok providing that they have a low sugar content. Maybe you could have the protein shake every second day and have food that is high in protein every other day. You should also cut down on your carbohydrate intake such as white bread, alcohol etc

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
