stay off the scale, keep looking in the mirror, keep track of how loose my clothes are, take measurements once a week, and be realistic...(It takes six weeks of weight training to SEE the difference in the mirror!)

One thing to keep in mind in order to not get discouraged is to understand losing 1 to 2 lbs. a week is the healthy way to lose weight. I think so many times people want to see those big numbers, but your chances of keeping the weight off are better when you lose the weight nice and slow.

The South Beach diet worked for me. It takes 3 days of being on the 1st stage of the diet for me to feel better and that it might be worth the deprivation of sweets and difficult exercises to feel and see the difference.
I lost 13 lbs the first two weeks of the diet and normal exercise., i.,e., walking or aerobics.
You can find the South Beach diet on the inter net.

Short term and specific goals. Not just i want to loose a lot of weight-for instance- but i want to pout down 10 pounds until my best friends party-or so. try not to think of food and not to feel trapped in a program. if you feel that you are free then you can put down weight easier.
