They would be neutered and possibly from the same litter

Hi Colin...it truly doesn't matter what the genders are so long as they are spayed/neutered to minimize accidental pregnancy as well as aggression issues which is common to unspayed and unneutered cats.

I'm not sure if it matters whether they are the same or different genders, but I've been told frequently that you should avoid buying related kittens. Cats that are from different litters tend to get along better - a bit like it being easier as an adult to live with a friend rather than a sibling in humans!

Good luck with your new little ones!! There's some more information on the following wikipedia link...

Hi Colin - I have 2 kittens, sisters, that Ive had from 2 months. Theyve always looked out for each other, as well as winding each other up haha! Have fun, but beware - my 2 are only just now at an acceptable age (10 months) from age 2 - 9 months, theyve been a NIGHTMARE, scratching everything, cr@pping everywhere, naughty, destructive....if I ahd the choice again, Id rehome a slightly older cat (1year +) Hope this helps

Gender doesn't matter, as long as you keep an eye on the male for signs that he's becoming fruity! This CAN happen from four months, though usually 6 months. You WILL know, the male will be all over the female .

Males and females get on fine....it's more the personality of the cat that counts.

Enjoy. I have 6 cats, oooh but I'm jealous....love little kitties!

i have a brother and sister from the same litter who are now 2 1/2 years old. they get on fine. we had them both neutered at 6 months. i found the boy is more loving and likes lots of attention yet the girl is happy to stay out all night and sleep alone. not to sure if you get 2 males whether they would fight for your attention?! just a thought.
hope this helps

As long as they are desexed then it shouldn't really matter but they should be bought from the same litter or at least the same age, however I would only recommend keeping two cats if they are going to be outside as they will inevitalby fight once in a while and need to be able to have their own space.

Th best thing to ensure that they will get on is to get kittens from the same litter. There is an old wives tale that says they will get on better if they are different sexes but i asked the vet this and she said there was no truth in it.

i recently had to give my cats up due to moving home i had three neutered boys and they were like my children i miss them soooooo much but yes the answer would be boys for me i find them more loving than females but get them neutered as soon as six months because repercussions can occur!

i have two male cats and they get along great. i got one from a friend who removed him from an abused home when he was 2 months old. then a month later i went to pet refuge and adopted a 4 month old. it only took 1 day for them to become friends. i had them fixed at 6 months. they have never sprayed in the house and they are a hilarious pair!

Instead of buying them, try going to your local rescue shelter and see if the have any young cats in pairs that need to be rehomed together. It doesnt matter if they are mixed gender or same, they will get on.
