Whilst not pleasant if your dentist/dental hospital is any good s/he should be able to reassure you as to the procedure. there may be some bruising and pain afterwards but this can be controlled with a good painkiller. Best wishes

Hello mate, i have had this done and watch it being done on a daily basis.
It should not be painful as the dentist will ensure you are completely numb before he/she carries out the procedure.
You will get the odd sensation, bit like a twinge while the dentist is trying the elevate the tooth from the socket but it should not be painful.
After the procedure the dentist should give you both verbal and written instructions regarding the after care, ie, dont drink anything to hot, if you have a tea/coffee leave it to cool down for a while, as the socket will have a blood clot forming and hot drinks will encourage the blood clot to bleed, dont smoke, as cigarette smoke contains so many ponious chemicals this will prevent the socket from healing and may result in you getting a very painful condition called dry socket, if your in pain or discomfort take your normal pain killers but try avoiding Asprins as they thin the blood and will encourage bleeding also.
Good luck.

All done and over with now, so you can relax, u didn't say if it was all 4 or less, i had 4 out plus a tooth that had grown in the roof of my mouth under the skin, many yrs ago, i didn't know i wasn't supposed to have a lump in the roof of my mouth, thought everyone had one!
I had it done in hospital whilst knocked out, lots of bruising, looked like a discoloured hamster for a week or so, VERY SORE but absolutely fine after. Speedy recovery!

Yes I had a wisdom tooth out, you shouldn't feel any pain as they'll give you anasthetic, you will however feel a lot of tugging as wisdom teeth are quite hard to pull, I was terrified before having mine out but it's really not that bad, most of us dislike the dentist, but it shouldn't take to long to take it out. Your gum may be quite sore and tender for a while after and you'll find it could bleed quite a bit. good luck

I had a wisdom tooth taken out, and it really wasn't too bad. My dentist is really cool, and completely talked me through the procedure. I remember I bleed quit a bit afterwards which concerned my dentist, but a few days after, it had really calmed down, and was fine.
Don't worry, I'm sure it will be fine x

I had mine out. Not a big deal. I had a regular dentist do it, not an oral surgeon. They had trouble with numbing, so I did it without numbing. It was painful, but i wanted to finish it. Everyone I spoke to though didn't have any complications. Afterwards I had some soreness. I was playing lacrosse at the time though and the mouth guard would rub my gums, which pulled my stiches out. It will be fine. Don't worry

It's all very straightforward, albeit not pleasant. Take the painkillers they recommend, afterwards, and make sure your follow the hygeine procedures to prevent infection. Tell them that you're very nervous and they will treat you appropriately. You'll be up and about, and feeling so much better, in no time at all. Good luck.

I had an impacted (growing into my jaw) wisdom tooth out a while back. I had a local, it took a couple of minutes and was left with a few stitches and a little discomfort for a few days. It was fine, don't worry about it!

My daughter had four out all at once. They did give her pain med to take prn but after the first day she didn't need them. She said once they put her to sleep it was easy. She was so afraid too but she said she never would be again. Hers was infected also which make it harder sometimes afterwards but she had no trouble and went back to work in 3 days. Don't be afraid and good luck.

Mine were all impacted, I didn't have general anesthesia (just local), and it couldn't have been too bad because I don't even really remember it. I do remember having to clean out the holes in the back of my gums for a while, and wondering if it was going to go back to normal. The answer is yes - it goes back to normal. Don't worry. It's worth it to have them out.
