I am scheduled for my induction today and I have to be there at 4:30 this afternoon. I originally thought that they were just going to apply the gels and what have you but isn't that very early of that's all we are doing today? Will they start pitocin too? I guess my question is will I have the baby today or tomorrow?
I have been induced before but it was not scheduled and it was like 9 pm. My hubby's birthday is tomorrow so I was just wondering. Plus I'm scheduled for a tubal following the delivery, which I know is performed the day after delivery.
I'm sorry, I know this is kind of jumbled and hurried. I'm just nervous and wanted to have a better understanding of what was gonig to happen. Plus I don't like being away from my other 2 kids for too long. Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for your answer genius. Yeah, never thought about it. People like you drive me nuts. It's Monday and I'm not in the habit of calling my physcian for just random questions, Being that I thought I was pretty informed in the first place, I didn't ask.
Ya know, I take my time to answer questions, I answer them genuinely and from the heart. I have had it with this site. I have used it for "entertainment purposes" but generally when I do, I go to the Entertainment section. I do not come to parenting and pregnancy for anything other than asking and answering in a sincere manner.
Have a nice day,

This has been my hardest answer to choose yet. I amgoing to just relax and trust that everything will be ok. This is my third child so I do know what to expect. Thank you so much fellow mommies for the reassurance and support. I haven't given up on you. I'm sure that over the next few months I will have plenty of need for your wisdom and sincerity. Thank you so much again.

I was induced with two of my children and they were both GREAT experiences. With the first one my labor was only 8 hours and all went well...with my last one, just 4 weeks ago, the labor lasted 5 hours and I only had to push once! YAY!
If they start pitocin..which you can request....you will probably have about an 8 hour labor (on average) so I would bet on early tomorrow. Just relax and know that your baby wil be here soon! :) The more relaxed you are the easier your labor will be.
My daughter was due on my husbands birthday but I had to be induced a week early after 2 weeks of bedrest due to pregnancy induced hypertension.
Everything will be fine and I know that you are probably getting some screwed up responses, but there are still people out there..like myself...who do answer these questions with honesty and from my heart. Please do not lose faith in us.
Good luck and Congratulations!!

Some people are just complete morons and others are completely ignorant while still more are just plain rude. Being induced IS NOT setting yourself up for a CSection (in my humble oppinion that is what an epidural is, but that is neither here nor there...). I have had 3 schedualed Inductions and intend to sheduale another one soon. (My children tend to get very large) You people can go somewhere not very nice! Trying to scare the poor woman out of something she and her doctor feel is best for her and her baby! Do you know the details of why she is being induced? No! So just knock it off! All of my inductions have been VERY sucessful. (I've never gone into labor naturally) They have also all been very different experiences. But from my experience the gel generally takes about 12 hours to get its job done. Then they will start the pitocin and depending on how quickly that works (usually between 5 and 10 hours for me) they break your water and out comes the baby a small amount of time later. In my oppion I would say your new little angel and your husband will be sharing a birthday!
I hope you don't write off yahoo answers all together, I do so enjoy the people who come on and actually use it for what it is intended for. If you leave we will be less one actual brain, and yahoo answers has so very few to spare! Good luck with you baby! Email me and let me know how it goes after you've all gotten situated! Happy birthing!

Ok, by being induced you're not automatically setting yourself up for a c-section. I was induced and had a normal, vaginal delivery and my son truly did need to be born then for medical purposes. Every situation is different. I was admitted, scheduled, around three or four, got settled and checked in and then they applied cervadil at about 5:30 or 6:00 and just monitored us through the night. Then at about four am, they came in and started pitocin, which moved things right along. My labor was intense, but mostly because I had back labor, even then, the epidural really helped. pitocin, synthetic at least, generally makes your contractions pretty strong and close together. My doctor ended up breaking my water at around 10 am and my son was born around 11 that night, so, while every situation is different, I'd say you'll probably have the baby the day after you're admited into the hospital, but probably earlier than later as this is not your first. Good luck and congrats.

I've been induced 3 times, 2 of them were scheduled. I always had to be there at 6 in the morning. I imagine that if you are scheduled to be induced, they will start pitocin and all and you will have a baby around midnight or the wee hours of the morning.
Good luck and congrats!!!

I would definately go and get checked out if you are leaking and no contractions have started yet you should definately been seen and get labour on the go. When your water breaks doctors like to deliver the baby within 24 hours in order to prevent infections. It is better to be safe then sorry, the worse that will happen is they will send you home because it was really urine and you will show up for your induction tomorrow! Congrats and good luck!

the gel, if they are going to apply it takes a while to work. When they have booked you in it has most likely been according to the doctors schedule or something.I had a booked induction and i had to be there at 8pm They did gel, scans ect. I was induced early the next morning. Good luck.( im in australia too so it might be different where u r from) Give them a call and ask. They dont mind normally

I was scheduled for an induction with all 3 of my children..... my body just would not go into labor by itself. I was overdue with my first 2 children.
1st child (1992).... went in at 8pm they used the gel...... then the pitocin...... vaginally delivered my child at 6:01 am the next morning.
2nd child (1993).....went in at 7am... used the gel....... then the pitocin..... ended up in an emergency c-section.... dr's fault..... he shut my pitocin off during a contraction, caused my baby to pull back after he was crowning... delivered at 3:23pm same day.
3rd child (2002)..... went in at 6am....used the gel....... all of the sudden I went into labor by myself..... never had to use the pitocin... Delivered my daughter VBAC (vaginal birth after ceasarian) at 8:19 pm the same day.
Inductions are to help you along...... sometimes you don't need the pitocin......... if the gel gives you enough of a push to send you to fully dialated and completely efaced...... you won't get the pitocin.... the pitocin is just another added thing to help you fully dialate so you can deliver this baby!!
Best of Luck hun, and congrats on your new bundle of joy!!

your body does know how to go into labor, you don't have to be induced unless there is a problem with the baby or you, and thats not likely because you were able to schedule it ahead of time. you are just setting yourself up for a csection.
chances are it won't be today and maybe not even tomorrow
