Slimfast sort of works. I was on it for awhile. I mean, it tastes really good and there's so many flavors to choose from so that's not the problem. But without doing exercise and monitoring your daily calorie intake Slimfast will only have small results. I lost 20 pounds but I also was at a gym 5 days a week at that time. You should try Slimfast but be sure to exercise and eat healthy as well.

Yes, but only in the same way as any other diet, by reducing the amount of calories you take in, to the amount you burn off.
I've done slimfast and lost about 2lb a week on it, but that's exactly the same as I've lost when doing Weight Watchers, which I find is far easier to sustain because you're actually eating something instead of drinking soup or a shake.
It's worth a try though - see how you get on, but if you miss food too much, I really recommend Weight Watchers. It's the only diet I've ever been on that didn't feel like a diet yet I still lost weight.

Any dietary food product can only help you lose weight if it's part of a calorie controlled diet. Too much of anything (including slimfast) will make you put on weight. You can diet by eating nothing but burgers, chocolate etc.
The imprtant thing is that the number of calories you consume is less than the number you burn through exercise. Eat nutritionally balanced, healthy foods and include plenty of fruit, veg and water in your diet.
As with all diets it boils down to a couple of simple things - Eat Less, Exercise More.

I tried slimfast many years ago when they only had shakes no ready meals etc., with exercise it did work and i lost a shedload of weight but like every fad diet it crept back on when I stopped the shakes. Better to eat small portions of healthy food and combine a healthy eating programme with exercise this will ensure that you can maintain the weight loss. Good luck

in the short term it would because its an extremely low calorie diet. however once you started eating normally again you would pile the weight back and probably an extra stone or so as you'd have been starving your body on slimfast.
also when I tried it I got crippling stomach pains and the doctor said that's down to a diet with too much milk and fibre in and that slimfast is very unhealthy

It does work but when you go back to normal food you will probably put the weight back on.
As others have said its better to eat healtier, you will probably lose the weight slower but you are far more likely to keep it off. Remember 2 lbs a week after the first 2 weeks of going on a diet is considered healthy.

It only helps if you can stand to drink the stuff!! It made me really sick. The slimfast ready meals and snacks are good though.

yes but can you stick to it. The thing is I wouldn't want to do a diet unless i thought I could stick to it for the rest of my life otherwise what is the point, youll come off the diet and put all the weight back on. Ask yourself, can you live off milkshakes for the most part of the day every day, I know you can have dinner but still, its quite hard.
