It would be costly, but would help tackle the problem. We could find out a way of catching carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and then pour it down inside some sort of container. Even if we stop producing carbon dioxide, the warming trend of the planet will stay for some decades or centuries, what has to be done is actually removing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.

Good idea, and this has actually been proposed for coal-fired power plants, to capture the CO2 at the point of origin. Of course the utilities are resisting the idea, because it will cost money.

Very simple to remove carbon di-oxide from the atmosphere. Stop recycling. Gather all waste products from households industry and agriculture and bury them all. This will sequest carbon underground which will, over time, tend to reverse the CO2 buildup caused by burning fossile fuels which have been trapped for hundreds of thousands, of years below the earth's surface.

Trouble is, maybe CO2 build up isn't as serious as people are claiming, anyway it will be a long time before environmentalists are willing to accept that measures like that are good for the environment.

I don't think we should be so eager to start messing with the atmosphere until we're really sure about what's causing global warming. It could be a natural cyclical event, in which case, screwing with it could totally put the whole thing out of whack. If we really wanted to, though, we could just explode a few big nuclear bombs and create a mild nuclear winter effect. That is, use a few big nukes to put a lot of dust into the atmosphere, blocking the sun's light for a few decades, similar to what an asteroid impact would do.

First of all: The cost would be very large to afford.

Second of all: Enemies would probably destroy the loations
. If something like your idea was possible, there would also be filters in other locations. Enemies would step up, and WHAM!

The chances are that it would create more waste/pollution by building it and powering it with electricity than it removes.
