I know it happens but is extremely rare -- I have no idea of the frequency. I would think it results in an nonviable embryo... I think I read that it can happen with invitro fertilization... something to do with the sperms' rating(??) I did a quick online search and all the medical articles on the subject were a bit too technical to figure out with a quick scan. edited to add: I just read something that says it is a possible risk of fertility treatments that involve " IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)". I am so sorry it happened to you. Take comfort in the fact it is very rare and probably won't happen again. If you are looking for information because you have heath decisions to make I would suggest you keep digging for info and get the answers you need before proceeding.

No, when a sperm enters the egg, the egg activates it's "shield" that stops any more access of sperm.
The people that said you get twins this way are wrong, scientist really do not know how twins are really made, but they believe that its a process where the zygote splits. They are not a hundred percent sure on htis yet, but it is definetly not from two sperms.

its a yes no answer, two sperm can indeed fertilise the egg but it will not be a succesful fertilisation.
If more than one sperm enters the egg the conditions become toxic and the fertilisation fails. Its called polyspermy.
identical twins are the result if one fertilised egg splitting, siamese twins are a result of the seperation of the egg not being complete, identicals in the same sac split later in the cell dividing than identicals in seperate sacs.
Non identical twins are the result of the woman releasing multiple eggs and each being fertlised.
the case of the different 'race' could be genetical, but they would certainly have been two eggs.

identical twins are made when one sperm fertilizes one egg and it then splits in 2... non identical twins are when 2 eggs are released and 1 sperm fertilizes one egg and one sperm fertilizes another...
as for 2 sperm fertilizing 1 egg, I dont think its the norm for being possible... but anything goes in the science world no one can say for definite one way or the other because so many diiferent outcomes can be made

No. Once a sperm has fertilized an egg the egg releases a natural chemical that kills off all the slower sperm.

yes thats where you get identical twins 1 sperm gets in downt put up a sheild quick enough the other gets in and they both have a job to do so they slip the egg and get busy makeing a person this is called identical twins the difference between identical and fraternal is who did the doulde dute if the mother drops two eggs you get fraternal twins each haveing their own fluid and space to roam with identical twins you have 2 pserm 1 egg that decide to share what theyve found so to speak identical twins share a sac and fluid hope ive cleared things up for you oh and i dont think the surounding sperm can have an efect the original 1 or 2 putr up a sheild to prevent others from messind with their findings
