Hi, its my neice's12th birthday today adn I want to get her something special. She is quite eccentric for a 12 yr old I have to add. she loves anything that has to do with cats as well as magic or anything mystical(her words). Now, I have no clue as to what to get her! I was thinking of an old looking cat broach as she loves things that are old fashioned , anything with a mystery behind it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, much appreciated

danielle, i appreciate you taking the time out to answer my question. However, where's the fun in just "giving her money" alot of children now a days have lost their innocence because we havent got the time to be imaginative or say we havent got the time to spend giving them a second thought. I believe in having some input on my neice's life, not simply throwing in the towel and giving up on making her birthday a special one.Maybe thats why she is so unique, cause her family spare her more than a second thought.

My daughter is twelve and so different from many of the other girls her age. She has a love of crystals, which have a mystical meaning behind them. For christmas we went to the local crystal shop and were amazed at the weird and wonderful stuff they sell. Crystals have meaning, and vary in price, starting from £1.00. Also a crystal bible is available for young people at a price of £15.00 which shows all different crystals and their meanings. My daughter would turn her nose up at the latest dvd or music cd that cost £10 - £15 in favour of a stone for £1.

Have you thought about working out what her birthstone is, and then getting her a necklace with it on?
Also maybe some kind of tarot cards..not too serious, just kids ones?
Either that or have a look in your local spiritual shop, they sometimes have lovely things in there.

If she likes things mystical she might like something to do with fairies. I'm 32 and I love them. I have books, figurines, etc. Find her a book on fairies. Or get her a figurine. Or help her start collecting items to create a fairy garden. Here is a link:

Just giv her the money or you could take her on a historic trip to a castle or something like that so she could learn some history and buy a gift from the gift shop on the way out!

Something old, that she will imagine other people once using many years ago. Also, it should be pretty.
