Got the in-laws coming 2morra and i can't get hold of any chesnuts (cooked 250g) to add to milk & cream to then purify to add to chocolate cake mixture. What would be a good substitute?

Try prunes. They keep the chocolate cake really moist and add a lovely flavour to it. Try it, it works.

Are you using the chestnuts to add fibre. Why not try pecan nuts, though you may have to adjust your cake mix to suit as pecan nuts are have quite a high fat content as opposed to chestnets which have fibrous content.

How about hazelnuts or even almonds...its the closest I can think of.

pistachios nuts get them in a heaith food shop or hazlenuts or orange
