My kitten follows me around everywhere when I'm in. She hates being left home alone. Every time when I am about to go out, she cries by the door. Can I take her out wherever I go?

Although your kitten is crying and doesnt want you to leave, she wouldn't appreciate being taken everywhere with you. Most cats are territorial and don't like to be taken away from their homes - it would confuse her. The vast majority hate travelling in cars and cat carriers. Kittens are very needy and pretty much need you to be there 24/7, or a playmate if not. But cats aren't nearly as bad and will accept you going out. I wouldnt encourage you to take your kitten everywhere with you. Why not get another kitten to keep her company?

Also, if you take her anywhere like a shopping centre or anywhere busy, she would more than likely be absolutely terrified - cats like their own environment and they like peace and quiet

Well there's nothing stopping you taking your cat out but don't be surprised if dog`s go after it or even jump up on you to get at the cat and its not as if you can tie the cats lead up outside a shop like you can with a dogs lead

You know, I think people give cats a bad "rep" (reputation).
They are clean creatures that can sit quietly in your lap being held or petted, causing normally no harm to their surroundings.
Usually it is others that come up provoking them, making loud noises, car noises, etc. that cause them to become distressed....which makes their claws & hissing come out.
>If you desentatize a cat to all of those things, then they will be unable to make it alone if they should wander by accident.
Hence, they will walk right out in the street at the cars, instead of trying to avoid them because they will get hit...... see my point.
*Please be careful what you do, your pet is counting on YOU to do YOUR best in keeping their safety & best interests at heart.
I'm sure going to a park with a leash/harness type setup would be perfectly fine & safe, that way both of you can enjoy the fresh air together. Just watch out for other critters that might be wild, & others with dogs.

It really depends on your cat's temperament (personality), but most of the time, unfortunately no.

It's hard to leave them behind, isn't it? My cat used to cry like that a lot, too, and she still struggles if I'm gone for too long. But she doesn't like to go other places with me either.

Cats fare better health-wise if they're kept inside-only instead of allowed outside. However, when they only live inside, a lot of times they're afraid to go to new places. They're not keen on strangers, having too many people around, other animals (especially other cats, when they get to be adults), etc. Usually they're a little better about it when they're kittens and not as set in their ways, but as they get older, it's harder for them. I think they can handle it better if they're accustomed from a young age to go outside, though.

The good news is that your cat will probably become better able to handle you leaving as she gets older. She'll get used to the idea that you always come back, and she'll get used to being home without you. It's never good to leave them for an extended period of time, but they get used to you being gone for a day or two, as long as their needs are always met. And they become more independent as they get older

A lot depends on your cat's personality, though. Some cats do better with strange situations than others. As a whole, they don't handle it as well as dogs do, unfortunately.

Yes and no. If they get away they can get hurt from something or hurt themselves because they are small. You represent her mother and she depends on you to keep her safe and fed. If you take her out use a leash AND put her in your purse. And when she's old enough spend the money and get her fixed and her shots, most places give a free identity tag when you do. Be prepared to leave her overnight, and don't cry she will be ok. Good Luck.

Yeah they can. you get certain cats that like to be taking on the lead for walks. But you get cats that will follow you where ever you go.

i think it depends on if your cat likes it outside of her domain. i take my cat in the car with me all the time and he loves it! when i park the car and get out he hops up on the driver seat and waits for me to pick him up. my other cat hates the outdoors and the car. so he stays home. just be sure you have your cat up to date on shots and for sure good flea medication from your vet-store bought stuff does not work at all!
