Road pricing is going to happen no matter which political party is in power. All governments are continually looking for new ways to raise cash to fund their plans for the country.
Look at it this way. Ever wondered why the NHS is strapped for cash? The answer is that what we pay in NI contributions is not enough to fund either the hospitals nor the old age pension. Therefore other forms of taxation must be used to collect money to fund what the people want.
How was the Welfare State funded in the past? Before the Thatcherite years, most major industies in UK, the railways, airlines, shipping, road transport etc., were all state owned. The profits from these state owned industries, including mining etc., funded the Welfare state. Since these industries have been privatised, governments have no option but to fund them from other sources. This means an ever increasing tax burden upon the people.
The people say they want to keep and maintain the Welfare state. Fine. But then we've all got to pay for it somehow.
Last November I took full retirement age 65. Members of the UK work force are now paying me my State Pensions as I did for others while I was gainfully employed.
My advice to the UK work force is to stop whining, get your shoulders to the wheel and keep pushing and don't forget, there are now an estimated 10 to 12 million pensioners - we all vote by the way and we're not voting for a bunch of lazy moaners. Just get on with it.
A famous Victorian prime minister Benjamin Disraeli once said, "Everything is taxable." He was a Tory by the way.

street pricing interior the united kingdom develop into abandoned through the authorities who were going to fund pilot schemes in some factors. certain we do already pay a disproportionate quantity in taxes for motoring compared to what's spent. till a plausible public shipping equipment is put in position there is not any longer some thing any authorities will be in a position of do about this. i'm only off to the food market. can't flow to the interior of reach little shops as they have all closed down interior the village the position I stay. that is a large village and used to have a inn, 3 banks, distinct shops of all descriptions the position you may want to do a weekly keep - they have all lengthy gone as has the railway station. progression eh? The bus end on the top of my the front backyard hasn't had a bus for nicely over a year now - they cancelled the provider. only off to get the automobile out then - no determination if i pick to devour and they tax me on that use of shipping as if I had a call.

I do agree with road pricing, and I drive in London and I pay the congestion charge when there, what we really need is a petition to get the railways more affordable.

Yes I definitely do agree with road pricing if it replaces road tax. Why should we who don't drive so many miles pay the same as those who drive all day every day.

I have absolutely no pity for car owners/drivers. If you can afford a car at today`s petrol/diesel prices and you can afford the insurance, and you like contaminating the air I breathe. Then you have to pay the price.
One word.................TOUGH!
