My mates daughter shakes and the kids at school take the micky out of her. My mate doesn't want to take her to the doctors because she doesn't want to make an issue of it and she doesn't want her daughter to take any medicine for nerves etc. her daighter is 10 now but has been like this for about 6 years. We notice it when she is doing detailed colouring-in or trying to write really neatly.

We can't tell if it happens when she's nervous or anxious or if it's a medical condition.

Has anyone else come across this and if so, what was wrong with the kid? Did they grow out of it or did they need to see a doctor?

I can't believe the child has had the condition for 6 years, and her doctor doesn't know about it. What parent would see their child shake, idly stand by while the child was pestered in school, and not talk with the child's doctor?

I think your friend is trying to tell YOU that she doesn't appreciate the fastination you display when observeing her child, so you'll drop the subject It's not the most logical response, I but I can certainly imagine someone saying that to a friend who stands around going, "LOOK! It get worse when she's writing!" or asks a lot of question about the child's medical history.

Her mother needs to make an appointment to have her daughter examined, if she doesn't do so she is being negligent. Any good parent wouldn't hesitate to have their child check out by their physician. What is she thinking, is she just waiting for the problem to get worse or what? Ignorance is no excuse, a problem can not just be wished away. It may cause the child other health problems down the road not to mention what is it going to do to the child's self esteem as she gets older and other children harass her. She needs to wake up and get her daughter seen.

Not taking this child to a Dr. is neglectful! This could be a serious neurological disorder and needs to be evaluated by a Dr. Tremors in a child this young is NOT normal. They DO NOT grow out of it. Shame on all of you!!
