do the same?? Or don't they want to terrorize the Iraqis to control the violence there?? You would rather let the Iraqis die in the 100s daily than be caught terrorizing them like Saddam , is that it?? Forget about Abu gharib prison ..Anything other than Incompetency and Hypocrisy to describe Americans in Iraq?? Foolish and Arrogant is there , I think.

Saddam led a Sunni sectarian Regime and suppressed the Kurds and the Shiites - thus Islamic violence was controlled.
The Americans permitted open elections which resulted in a Shiite Government and a loss of Power by the Sunnis - this situation brought on the Historic Forces of Islamic Violence and Terrorism which goes back to
Mohamed.

Because controlling people by terror is not in american culture.

Americans want to live in peace and want to help the world live in peace, even if they have to fight for it.

To actually control a counrty by terror, you need soldiers and officers who are trained in the terror business, backed by fire-eater politicians who close their eyes on terror.

France succeeded in controling Algeria in the Algerian war, by torture and counter-terror. The army worked very closely with the air force and secret services to track down insurgent groups in the desert and when they caught some up, those who escaped the slaughter were almost tortured to death to say whatever they knew. (Many french officers and soldiers had themselves been victims of this at the hands of the Nazis some time earlier)

But such a strategy is politically and morally unacceptable and France shivers from this nightmare.

Ultimately, it doesn't work. France's domination and moral leadership in Algeria was heavily damaged by its terror strategy and its withdrawal was made necessary.

I realised this trend in countries sometimes. THose that never felt the privileges of having freedom and always lived under a dictator would be effectively controlled by terror and force. This was the case in Russia thats why many ppl did not make noise about the communist style.
But those that do like America alreadi noe wat its like to have much freedom so they cannot now become under a rule of terror; they would make too much revolts. THerefore America cannot be controlled by terror now

If we started terrorizing the Iraqis, on top of all our other (yes, arrogant) mistakes there, I think I really *would* move to Canada. Controlling people by terror is morally wrong.

Iraqi`s should be free to kill each other, if that is their choice. America should relinquish control immediately, It`s their country let them get on with it.
