Possibly, but if religious people just loved each other no matter what, that would be even better!

It is people and not the religion that is important for the world to be a safer place. To educate people is the only solution rather than imagining a world where 'lack of education' is substituted with religion.

Perhaps if people concentrated more on doing God's will instead of using religion as an excuse for prejudice and hatred, it would be a force for good in the world instead of such a threat.
When people asked Ghandi why he didn't become a Christian since he admired the Sermon on the Mount so much, he answered, "When you can convince me that Christians live by it, I will be the first to become a Christian." So I guess the same principle applies to all faiths - they teach love, tolerance and respect yet the people who claim to follow these faiths do not apply the principles.

Let's see...Without religion we have no absolutes. We have my idea of right and your idea of right...somehow you think these two will be in agreement? If I choose to destroy all that you own and i decide that everything you have would be better if it were mine...suppose for a minuet this is my idea of righteousness..will you be in agreement with me...and if you do not agree with me who agrees with you? The law? and by what authority is this law the majority? Do you suppose the majority is always right? My point is the world as we know, has to say the least degrees of truths...We have different faiths but most have some idea of righteousness and consequences..It is your assumption that if every man had his own idea of righteousness you would somehow be safer? I wish you luck without the restraint of God the world would end...It is God that sustains the world and without this restraint we perish. Atheist themselves have asked without God would it be necessary to invent him?...thank God we needn't find out. If it were possible to do away with any idea of God and live by the law of the jungle you would not have to worry about war as much as you would have to worry about anarchy chaos and the guy next door.

Wow, that's a tough one! On one hand, I think most of all the wars in the world have been over religious beliefs, one group thinking theirs is the only true religion, and trying to force it on eveyone else, and killing them over it, but on the other hand, a lot of good people base their whole existence on their faith, and lead wholesome, happy lives, helping others, and generally being
decent, productive members of society. I'm not really religious, but I think it would be a sad world if people had nothing to believe in.

even though it was enforced with the fear of death, religions such as christianity caused people (and still does) to analyse their intentions for doing something. People began to look beyond physical results such as accumulating wealth to see the effects they had on the people around them.
i'm sure this happened before a lot of mainstream religion existed, and it can occur without religion, but religion should at least lead people (and i think it does) towards analysing cause and effect, and this is positive.

No dear friend,
As long as Satan is there we do not have safer place to live in, no matter whether it is without religion or any anything else.

You may be right, religion has played a major role in human conflict. The big question is how would you get people to relinquish it?

I disagree 100%.
Without religions and man's attempts to reach the transcended; everyone would obey the baser instincts of the animalistic subconscious mind, and no one would be safe.

it would be a different world without religion. i believe that religion is created through man's insatiable quest for explanation on everything. for those things that he can explain, he attributes them to science but the rest... to religion

~ no... read the Holy Bible.
You already know the truth... When the Judgment Day comes, and you thought you were going to heaven, and instead, the Lord tells you that He did not know you... and sends you to the Lake of Fire for eternity (a longer time than your life here on earth)... you will look back at this question AND your life and have an ETERNITY to condemn yourself for your stupidity in refusing the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
