a couple of weeks ago i had an I.V. in my hand, I told the nurse I didn't think it was in properly but she insisted on leaving it in... that night my hand swole up, no one noticed, and the nurse continued to put pain medication through it. The next day a new nurse noticed my swollen hand in blood in my IV and said that the fluid had infiltrated my tissue, and took it out and put in the other arm... now I have a swollen puffy vein i can feel in my arm that is tender to touch in couple of places... is this normal, what can i do, will it go away?

its phlebitis, common after an iv...apply local heat 3 times a day and it should resolve.

Don't worry....it will go away in time. This is a common complication of having an IV inserted. I don't think you'll get very far trying to sue.
