Its better to give a gift certificate from the same shop for 800 bucks. If they dint like the large glass wall hanging, they might as well go for something more useful or of their liking. This way, the 800 bucks which you invest in gifting them will give you a satifaction that they chose something of their liking and they will be happy for that too.

I would normally suggest cash, but that differs very much from region to region. Here in the northeast you usually give gifts for the showers and cash for weddings.
However, if you purchased an 800 dollar present that should be more than sufficient.
Of course everyonoe gives what they can, and a couple should never EXPECT a gift, but there is a litttle someting called the itlalian equation
Your gift should equal about the total price the couple is paying for you and your date to eat. That makes you being there a wash, if you give a little more, its like actually giving them a gift.

If you offer Cash it will be over in a minute or two and he will never remember that you gave him cash.
If you give him gifts that may wear down after some days.
If you give him utensils it will be lost amongst other utensils.
I had one of my friends wedding and didn't knew what to give him, hence I gave him memories of our school and college days, I had some of the most memorable photos when we used to go out for picnics and outings in school days and they were with me and he always used to ask me to give it to him but I always refused. On his wedding day I packed them carefully in a box and gifted it to him, I asked him to open it in front of his wife on the wedding night and he did as I said. He came to meet me along with his wife the next day and hugged me, according to him it was the most memorable gift for him. He still has the photos.

ive never been friends with the guy that has gotten married, so i wouldnt know what to get. I would say give them the money. Since i am usually friends with the bride, i buy something from Things Remembered..its an engraving store and the stuff you get from there is more on the sentimental side.

A crystel decoration piece, or I suppose you must give a set of Goblets as these can be used and will be helpful to u r friend as well otherwise its u r wish. Wall hanging is not the appropriate choise.

That's quite a sum for something that's not a practical gift. Are you sure that's what they want? Cash is tacky. Did you check their wedding registry? You should be able to do a great dent in their china, if that's on their list.
