i have been playing for 4 years. i take private lessons, and have been in orchestra for all 4 years. i was intrested in becoming a professional, but i think i started playing too late in my life, and i dont stand a chance, im 17, and graduated at semester, but still play in the orchestra. is it too late? heres my expierence: im on suzuki book 5. i play in all positions in to fourth, i cant remember 5,6,7, but im learning to play in thum. i am cureently learning to read treble cleff, and tennor. i do have some counting problems, i dont know how to help that. oh and i play with vibrato ( have science my first year). so is it too late?

If you'd said you were in your 40s and only played for four years, I'd say it was probably too late but at 17 years you've got your whole future ahead of you. The possibilities are endless if you really want something. Go for it! Best wishes.
