I am the third type of person who studies psychology. I know I can not save the world, but I wish to, as any other doctor, ease suffering in some way.
My primary cause is animal rights and teaching people that the kindness they show to all other living things is a measure of their true best selves.
Each professional must pick a battle ground and do what they can in a rather narrow area.

I'd hope to see a graduate, assuming they didn't fail.
Other than that, the beginning of an expert who needs to get out into the real world and learn from and deal with real people, with open minds, now that they've done the text book stuff.
Hopefully someone who will also study alternative therapies etc, to get away from their somewhat rigid thinking patterns.
Also someone who will focus on how people get personal success and happiness in life, and not just help move people's mental disturbance around and get their clients stuck in a rut. There is too much emphasis on the negative right now. No wonder some patients/clients get gloomier etc.
Good luck! Rob

In my experience, which is rather extensive in this field, all the people who have studied psychology have issues. Saying that, most of us have issues, but psych students are often just plain weird. And, don't take this the wrong way, the fact that you feel the need to share your IQ would point towards certain insecurity or narcissistic tendencies ;)

Psychology is based on studying theories, concepts, experiments etc
There is no PROOF that a psychologist can know what goes through a persons mind. The human brain is tool complex - just like human life is also very complicated.

Definitely not intelligent as i know people who have studied it and are no more intelligent.... In general Ive found them a bit odd and virtually every subject they talk about they say 'in psychology bla bla bla at uni' and have no other reference to back their discussion up.
Ops, looks like i wont get the ten points.

Interesting but if u acted like a snot about it then I weren't think much of u at all.
I'm also creeped out by shrinks. I often think they can't be trusted and can read minds or put words in your mouth that you've never said or thought.

I think as soon as people know you've done this they seem to think you can answer any question about the human mind. I think you could study for years and never fully understand how the mind works. It's boggling.

To me it's a lot of humdrum. Once they get a job they've got an easy life. I mean, how hard can it be to keep listening to somebody and then occasionally ask: 'How does that make you feel?' or 'And how did you feel about that?'. They are not even giving advice to their clients. Easy money, I say. As for intelligence... well, if they look intelligent then they are halfway there...
