It could be three factors.

1. christians poselytize.
2. their former religion does not answer their spiritual questions.
3. Christianity DOES answer their spiritual questions.

Indian religion have a caste system, it's a social hierachy thingy. Just because they're born in the lowest class, they life sucks. They don't get privielages, such and such. So, they convert to a religion that treats them as equals, like Christianity, Islam and Buddhism. Whatever they fancy.

Because Christianity is the truth -- especially Catholic Christianity, which holds the fullness of religious truth.

Other religions hold at least some religious truth -- but not the fullness of it, like Catholicism does.

I used to know a Catholic priest from India. He was a wonderful man.

Their own religion is the one they choose for themselves. You are not obligated to join the religion most other people from your ethnic group follow, you know.
