i think you should just blow it off. we have these crazy rules in my family too and they get annoying. for instance....

kids always sit on the floor if not enough chairs are available
kids eat first ..then men...and women get what is leftover
women are not allowed in the guys gathering place and children are to stay in the game room until served
no one eats the last serving of anything.... it's rude

lol........ i stopped going i couldnt handle all the rules.

Well, gossipping is never the right choice, neither is pointing the finger at someone. The problem with people is that they jump to conclusions and don't find out why situations happen. If there was a question about whether something you did was appropriate or not, someone should have pulled you aside. Then you obviously could have explained what happened.

The whole thing sounds like it was blown way out of proportion. The best answer would be B, but unfortunately that didn't happen. I would say to let this go. It sounds like a big deal is being made over nothing.

no one should gossip but they do because they have no live and need something to talk about so just let that go
familys need rules
if she understands you just wanted the book and she is ok with what happened then everything is ok
but it should have been "B" that is how normal people handle problems
I dont see where you did anything wrong

Just clear up the confusion and if theres still rumours just let it die down. You know the truth and thats all you need to know.

This isn't a problem, this is an awkward situation, that's all. If someone asks you, tell the truth. Otherwise ignore it.
