I don't really think there is anything you can say to stop someone if they really want to die.
I think I would start with I'm not here to stop you, but before you go can you please tell me why? Family, Friends and the police are going to ask me questions, it would be nice if I could give them some answers.
I have attempted suicide 7 times and I've herd it all.
I've been told I'm being selfish. That doesn't work, and why is it selfish anyway? It is no more selfish than the people who try and stop you.
They aren't thinking about what made you get to that point, they are thinking about how they will deal with it when your gone.
There are no secret words!!!!!!!
In the end it is their chose.

I understand that you feel helpless right now. But let me help you figure things out. All bad times come to pass. And yours will too. Just don't do this to your self, b'coz your life means & matters so much!

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary situation. I would ask that person to please wait long enough to give me time to pray for God to give me the right words to say to this person and make him/her realize that there is always hope...
