I live alone and didn't want to cook a turkey for just myself this Thanksgiving so, I put together:
CABBAGE W/ ITALIAN SAUSAGE
Cabbage
Italian turkey sausage
Onions
Garlic
Dried red pepper
Celery seed and parsley.
Either it was really good or, I was just in the proper Thanksgiving mood. I'm craving a second go-round of this combo right now!
I've also made up another recipe for cabbage:
PORK CHOP STEW
Pork stew meat
Cabbage
Onion
Celery
Garlic
Can of whole tomatoes
Celery seed
Parsley
Pepper
I, sometimes, serve it over white rice - looks beautiful. Other times, I just eat it like a stew.
I LOVE CABBAGE!
Hope this helps.

Not unusual for me, but I like my cabbage raw or plain cooked.
I do occasionally cook it shredded in layers with spinach, sliced potato and onion covered with a basic white sauce and topped with cheese and baked until golden brown.
Nearly forgot about the seasoning and nutmeg to go with the spinach.

I only like fresh cabbage, so that would be coleslaw, not very unusual.
