When you are looking for a parking spot, like at a mall, what kind of parker are you?

1. Search and Destroyer -slowly prowl the parking lot until you find the closets spot.

2. Lay and wait -position themselves at the end of an aisle and wait for a space to open up in what they start to believe is their territory.

3. Stalkers - the most predatory, slowly follow shoppers leaving the store back to their parking spot.

4. See it and Take it - take first spot available, usually furthest away from building.

I'm a See It & Take It, mostly because no body is waiting for you to back out.

What type are you?

I'm definitely a number 4. When I see a spot where I can easily park (because thankfully no one has left any obstacles in the spot or has parked too close to the line, or way too crooked) I take it. Otherwise, I will drive further away and simply walk. Your going to the mall and will be walking anyways, so why do you need to park so close to the doors?

I'm a See it & Take It, because I've seen too many accidents in parking lots. Most of those could be avoided if someone simply took the first available parking spot, instead of circling the lot with the rest of these aggresive drivers who are waiting for a spot. A better parking lot is definitely NOT worth denting up my car!

If it is dark or I will be leaving the mall after dark, I generally do the search and destroy bit, prowling the lot until I find the closest spot. If it is daytime and I expect to leave the mall before dark, I will park away from all the other cars and walk. I need the exercise, and people seem to like to bump or back into my car.

#4 = see and take. I hate wasting time and driving around or waiting for a spot take too long. In the time it takes me to grab whatever spot I see and walk to the store entrance, other people are still cruising the lot for the perfect space. Also, I don't mind parking further away because it's just that much more exercise in my day to walk in.

I'm a number 1 until I get tired of looking, then I'm a 4. Number 3s give me a pain. One time I had someone like that, following me slowly to see where I parked. I was actually parked close, but I walked past my car and kept walking, until I was out of the parking lot. I waited until they finally found an end of the row spot, then went back to my car and left, making sure they saw me.

You left out the most common type observed during the summer in California - "Shady spot sheltered by many trees". This is the spot that will never have a single ray of sun hit your motorcycle and make the seat so screaming hot you can't get back on it. It stays nice and cool so your 'tender vittles' aren't burnt trying to flee the mall with the latest Ranma 1/2 video.

I'm a Shady Mall Parker. I will walk many miles to the door of the mall just to get the shady spot.

I'm a See It & Take It, even if it's raining. I don't mind walking. There are fewer people to avoid walking to their cars. There are fewer shopping carts and buggys to bash into my vehicle. There are fewer hard-to-see children to watch out for. It is easier to exit the parking lot when I leave. If I'm buying a large item or have a loaded cart, a store employee will help me, if necessary. All because I don't mind a bit of free exercise.

When I used to have a car I parked it whereever there was room available, I didn't try for a very close spot. I preferred shopping at night though so I often could park right in front anyhow!
