I'm not sure what you mean by the history of the pelican, but an interesting fact about the mother pelican is that in times of extreme lack of food, she will tear off parts of her breast to feed her young. Pelicans are really fun to watch at the ocean. They fly in large groups, and if you stand on a cliff they will often come by at eye level. There are brown and white ones in California.
