You know those bags where you can put items like blankets and bulky stuff inside, ultimately transforming them into flat and thin items?

Yes, but you still have to pack and fold neatly inside the bags. Also, make sure most of what you pack in them is wrinkle free material if you are going someplace that won't have an iron or drycleaning readily available. That is, if you are using them for travel. If you want to do blankets and stuff then I guess you don't have to worry about wrinkles.

I think they are great for long-term storage of air-filled, bulky items like pillows, comforters, etc. In my experience, they don't work as well on clothes.

They are hard enough to use and I've had several break (like others mentioned) so I absolutely would not recommend them for general travel.

I used them during a move and to maximize storage space in a small house and they certainly worked for those needs.

They work great! The only problem is that they can break easily if you don't follow the instructions or if you let children pack them and unpack them. I use them for traveling, so that I can bring all the clothes I will need for a week and only have to bring one suitcase. It does make your suitcase heavier, but just weigh it before you go to the airport, to make sure you don't go over the weight limit. They were a major life savor for me when my kids traveled to their grandparent's house last year and neither of them could part with their GIGANTIC life-sized teddy bears. We just packed them in the space-saver bags and put them in their suitcases. My mom almost had a heart attack, though when she let the air back into one of them and it popped up so quickly she thought it was coming after her, lol. Anyway, they obviously work well for our family, but like I said before, we are very careful to follow the instructions and never over pack them or try to force them open quickly.

I used them a while ago, and they aren’t airtight.
The air gets back in with in a few days.

If you had a vacuum cleaning at both stages of packing though (especially packing coming home actually) they’d be great.
You could squish a lot more into your case and close it before they slowly re-expanded…
