Have you any cloves in the house, if so put one spring near your tooth and it will help with the pain. Also rub the crevice in between the thumb and index finger of the side the tooth ache is on. Rub at five minute intervals and the pain will ease though not go away you understand.

The antibiotics will take at least 48 hours to kick in and start killing the infection meantime all you can do (poor thing) is take pain killers as and when directed. Also rinse your mouth out with warm salty water to take the taste of the poison away. Keep out of the cold draughts.

I do not need to tell you to make an emergency appointment with your dentist.

All the best.

Are u ppl serious... Have any of u been to college or away from home more than a week? I can't tell u how many times I've gone a week without showering cause I'm just too busy. And it's not like I'm covered in mud or sweating profusely... U just take what I call a 'dirty boy bath'... Spray some cologne on and Boom! No one will tell a difference. As for the bathroom... I have giant fear for public restrooms and disposal. I went away on a week long trip with my peers in which we stayed in a rundown college dormitory and the facilities were rancid. Now most of my peers had no problem plopping down on a disgusting toilet and doing their business. Not me... Idk how, Idk why... But I've somehow managed to condition my body to hold in #2. (# 1 I have no problem doing) but #2... Just can't do it. It's gotta be my own home base or a place I know is sanitary. Yes! realize that it is probably a mental block that I have. I do not disagree with that. It's just a hurdle I've never gotten over unless I felt good about it. In short: I went a full week without doing #2. And I never had the urge, nor did my body tell me I had to go. It's almost as if my body and mind were in sync.

antibiotics take 24-48 hours to start reducing an infection. You should find after this the swelling will go down and the pain will be reduced! It is important to then get this tooth sorted (tempting to leave it when the pain has gone, but the pain will return over time) There are 2 ways to treat the tooth 1) extraction or 2)root canal reatment. I hope this helps x

rinse with a little salt water, or saline, or diluted peroxide as often as possible, drink a lot of water, alternate an ice pack for the swelling, and a hot water bottle will help with the inflammation and draining There are a lot of toxins ,and the more rinsing and fresh water will help them pass sooner.don't smoke anything as this will actually make it worse, and take longer to feel better.I had all 4 wisdom teeth cut out and the only thing that helped the pain was clove oil packings.however that was after they were pulled, clove oil is very strong and I doubt it would help at this point, it might even complicate the healing, since you are already infected. good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

My Mum had that years ago. I remember it because of the amount of pain she was in. Hers lasted about a week till the swelling went down and then she had to have two of her teeth removed. I suggest you see a dentist too to find the cause of the abcess as it can come from having bad teeth.

continue to take the antibiotics, try neurophen or some version of ibuprohen as it is the best for tooth aches, a dentist can so nothing until the infrection has gone, certainly if it is within the bone, and they can't release it.
Try salt mouth washes, it may help
Try head to your face, a hot water bottle, dont' make it too hot, and keep it wrapped in a towel so you don't burn your face

Just had one myself and I was given 2 repeats of anti-biotics and some panadol forte but also used some Bongella gel which is a cream pain killer you rub on the abcess and it numbs the area. Go to your chemist and see whats avaliable. Bongella is an over the counter med. this should help the pain until the anti-biotics take effect.

u have swelling and its aching a lot and abscess means pus..antibiotics is the right treatment but u cnt stand pain for days nobody can.. so as the tooth needs root canal therapy the doctor shd have open the tooth deeper( after anaesthetising) so that the infected canal is exposed and eventually all the accumulated pus will drain out as the pain is due to pressure from accumulated pus. when once pus drains out completely and canals become dry root canal treatment can be completed.. so go to dentist ask him to open the tooth so that pus drains out and continue antibiotics for 2 more days..ul find relief then. iam a dentist and it should be done so...

This may sound gruesome but if there is a swelling on the side of the gum you may be able to disperse it [burst it] by pressure with a finger! Instant relief if so though painful to do! All other advice applies hot salt water and so on. Holding whiskey against the area and swallowing it [if you are old enough] might help?

i had an abcess a few yrs ago, and i do sympathise, its agony, the antibiotics will start working, don overdose on painkillers. try laying on a hot water bottle, warmth helps, for the same reason keep your mouth warm wen u go outside, once the pain has gone and swelling gon dwn, you must go dentist, i had to hav a deep root filling, try also rinsing mouth with warm salty water regularly, it cleans and helps the pain
