According to all the comprehensive studies on the subject christians and other religious aren't really persecuted. The separation between church and state isn't discriminatory - it's fair.

The christians who complain about there not being prayer in school would be furious if schools featured islamic or jewish prayer. All religion is banned from government and public places, so the christians are equally protected. They would be unhappy with other religions harassing them and would be offended if other faiths were given equal time and privileges, so no religion period works best for everybody. Also most of the founding fathers were deists and atheists (not christians) so

The most discriminated and hated/distrusted group in the US is really the atheist. Atheists are generally seen as a greater threat than terrorists, and they are the minority parents are least likely to let their children marry. Many states have it written in their constitutions that Atheists cannot hold political office...

Oh and according to the census only around 75% of Americans are christians.

Persecuted? You mean abused by Catholics Priests? 60,000 American man and women were abused when they were children by Catholic and they are seducing these people with money so that they keep their mouth shut. If a soldier gets kill in Iraq everyone knows about it around the Earth but if someone is abused by Catholics no one wants to know about it because Catholics are abusing children all over the Earth. No one cares. One day there will be a revolution and there is not "time machine" for the government and the Vatican to go back.

Perhaps 85% of this country identify as Christians, who knows how many atheists say they are christian to avoid real persecution of barriers to employment, political representation, etc.

It depends on how you define "persecution".

Some American Christians seem to include such things as:

Not forcing non-Christian children to pray in school
Teaching science instead of theology in high school science class.
Allowing Jews to display menoras alongside Nativity Scenes
Allowing Muslims to run--and win--elected office.
Acknowledging that not everyone believes in Christ, or even God, and that they have the right to not do so.
Everything--no matter how trivial--that annoys them

among other things, as "persecution".

Who is being persecuted? Anyone can pass by any church/synagogue/mosque in the country without going in or someone coming out to persecute them.

Being a traditionally very religious country i.e. being founded on religion, we should all look at Europe and how they are dealing with their problems of religion for the answer to this question. France, in particular, has completely separated church and state because of all the problems it causes to have them connected. If God was not such a big problem, look at all the money we would save on war! There are people out there who would love to blow us up because of our policies! Let's all just keep our beliefs to ourselves and everything will be fine.

Hahahaha. Rephrase that to 85% claim they are Christian. Cut that down to the 20% that actually are. We are true Christians that are really persecuted by being hindered by worldly views. Even though most of the Christians that argue back are just pretenders or just do not understand. We are silent and strong in out work. We do not judge or condemn as do others. Even they hinder us so. Remember it is written that, "wide is the path that leads to destruction". If everyone was so-called "Christian", many would be wrong. Find your own path, do not rely on any other person, just Jesus alone.

Being persucuted is more than just physical.

I do agree with the answer about not being able to pray in schools, or public places. But also remember this, there is spiritual warfare going on at ALL times in high places. There is more to life than just the natural realm.

When you are a Christian and you have tha Holy Spirit dwelling on the inside, you are on GOD's side. The enemy will do things to keep you away from and distracted away from doing the will of God.

You may also experience persucution from even your family because of your Christian views or lifestyles. We deal with being shunned by those who do not believe as we do, and there are those who claime to be Christions, but that it is only lipserviceChristians are set apart. Not better than any one by no means, but I mean we are set apart because we are to be a living witness of who Jesus Christ is and was. Our lives are an example. This is why it is so important to live right, in public and private.

who says that the American Christians are being persecuted?

2007-02-05 02:52:08 · answer #10 · answered by sk33t3r 3 · 3 2

Most Christians who say they're being "persecuted" are trying to persecute everyone else and getting slapped down for it. Their denial of the separation of church and state does not make it any less the law of the land. They need to get over it.
