Holy Christ on a Cracker I have rarely seen so much concentrated Gypsy hatred in one place!
To those who have expressed their, shall we say, slight dislike of Gypsies... I am a Gypsy. Opre Rroma dinlo Gadje!
Oh, uhm, it is "Rromani" thankyou.
Thankyou very much to those who answered this question kindly and with accurate information about us.
Now, to answer the question. By the way, thankyou for asking it.
Gypsies are treated poorly because those that do so CAN. Rromani do not have decent representation within the government of any nation and, in fact, most nations pass legislation that makes it impossible to get an education or a job. It is hard to get any "rights" when the governments, themselves, legally deny a populace any rights. In fact, many nations give "perks" for persecuting the Rromani.
People have seen Rromani as the "outsiders" for centuries. Part of this is our fault, much is not.

smokers ma you don`t know a lot then do you . Nearly a million Gypsies were wiped out along side of the Jews in Hitlers Germany and they`re not treated a whole lot better now as recent as in the 1980s Gypsy women were getting rounded up for forced sterilization in some eastern European countries

there is no point, it's just some stupid thing left over from the crusades when they thought jews were evil and so on because they killed jesus, and when they were 'kicked out' of jerusalem and stuff and migrated to europe they were given the job of being money lenders and bankers because handling money made you dirty so it was the perfect job for the 'dirty' jews. then even hundreds of years later because a lot of jews were rich and owned lots of banks people hated them because of this and that's one of the reasons hitler hated jews. as for gypsies i think it's just some of them have a reputation for being thiefs and stuff like that so now any gypsy is considered one aswell. catholics in england aren't treated badly, yes at the time of mary queen of scots and when Henry VIII was setting up the church of england they were, but not now. it may be a problem in northern ireland now, but not in england

Well versed. I completely agree in the fact that Roma in Holocaust commemoration days have been forgotten. But, I also see a lot of light at the end of the tunnel. I think as more and more Roma begin to come out of their reclusive lives, we will begin to see a much bigger picture of who Roma are and what we are all about. This is highly reassuring for me. I have Gitano (Spanish Roma) and Sephardic Jewish ancestry. I completely agree and feel that our peoples are highly connected, as my ancestors, and many in our clans today, will only marry people from their own culture. My own marriage was prearranged, to keep on this dying tradition amongst our contemporary youth. My Romni also has Romani and Jewish ancestry. And so their nation and my nation have something in common - we believe that our Romani and Jewish cultures are compatible enough to be united.

In the case of the Gypsies its in part the media confusing New Age Travellers with genuine Gypsies or Romany's (Roma) and ignorance . The poison of anti semitism now exits on the right and left of the political divide we have neo fascism and militant Islam as well as the clueless neo Marxists misrepresenting Israel.

So, basically, you want to know why people are assholes? I suppose the politically correct term would be "racists". Most frequently we must include the "descriptive" (or, adjective) form of the term, i.e. "ignorant" assoles, to adequately describe the types of people to whom you are referring. I say, ignorant because most of these types of people confuse someone's religion for their race. Especially, when referring to persons of the Jewish Faith. The same would be true for many others as well, such as some of those you mentioned in your question. It is much easier to identify an "asshole" than it is to explain why that person IS an "asshole".
The easiest way to explain why, is mainly because they need someone to blame for the problems that, either they are having personlly, or, problems they see. Insecurity, laziness, ignorance and fear are all primary reasons why these types of people act the way that they do. You asked..."What is the point of it?" Sadly, there is no point. Nothing positive ever comes from those types of behaviors and nothing ever will. It is refreshing to know that even though we see these people almost everywhere, if people continue to ask the question that you asked, it means that there is still hope. Hope to put an end to racism and bigotry. It can be done, it will just take time, education and dedication.

The point is people will hi-light a 'particular' bad point about a race or ethnic group and make it look like they know everything about them and make the bad point into a stereotype 'penny pinching' Jews, 'Thieving Gypsies'. Can you honestly name a race, nationality or ethnic group that has not had its 'moments' We should all be proud of our heritage and learn to live together in a greater harmony and understanding. Whether that will ever happen - well that's another question!

I don't see why people do either. I know the Jewish people were treated badly. I don't have much knowledge of the other groups you mentioned. I am of Hungarian decent and my grandmother was a Hungarian gypsy. I don't remember her saying anything about being treated badly by anyone. She came here in 1912 on the Abraham Lincoln through Ellis Island. She said she was always treated with kindness. But then again, it may have just been my grandmother(to know her was to love her). She could melt the coldest heart with her smile! She was a chef in New York. Worked her butt off! She taught us that every person has a right to be treated with respect and dignity. We are all God's creation and God does not make junk!
The Jews ARE God's chosen people! The Bible says that God will bless those who bless Israel. I do think that those who dare to mistreat His people will have to make an account for what they have done! Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the Jewish people!
Yikes! It never crossed my mind that people could feel so badly about my grandmother's kin. Well, for the record, my grandmother never took one red cent that she did not earn, never cheated anyone, would feed hungry children during the Great Depression of all races! Paid her taxes and made contributions to American society. Her children formed what was to become our greatest generation. My uncles fought for this country and would get several medals for bravery. I don't know where you people are getting your ideas from, but I have never known anyone who could say anything bad about my beloved grandmother. There were many people at her funeral who came to pay their respects to a woman who had helped them out when times were hard.
To the woman who said that all gypsies were scum and dirty, my grandmother proved you wrong again. Her home, and everything in it were without a spot. How can you throw such misconceptions around?

Gypsies are absolute scum. They are a bunch of indimidating, dirty people who just set up camp wherever they feel like and cause problems for local people and leave behind a huge mess for the council to clear when they finally do leave (They don't even pay council tax). They make money but contribute nothing to society. When the gypsies come to my local area they come round asking if they can clear gutters/tarmac driveways/wash windows etc. Most people say no, so they move on to harrassing the elderly community who feel intimidated into letting the gypsies do some work for them. They then charge extortionate rates and bully the money out of people for sub standard work. One old man refused to pay the money and the gypsies said 'we'll take your car then'. They are absolute horrible - but thats what years of inbreeding and lack of education does. As for Jews - nothing wrong with them, they are hard working and respectful. Gypsies are the dregs of society.

Someone once said this to me about haters "They don't like themselves so how can they possibly like anyone else."
Anyone who is truly happy within doesn't need to spew venom about a group of people, or plot their demise.
