No one has that courage. You just do it.
You just tell him/her how you feel about them and show a sincere interest in their well-being.

I know it sounds lame but i did it over the internet. I spent years trying to tell him and could never bring myself to do it and one night i just bit my lip and typed out the words. It was much easier to hear his reaction when he had time to think about what i said and respond in an adult manner. When it's not in a relationship then this news can come as a surprise and the other person may say something that could hurt your feelings. My guy had some time to think about it and respond back. And the rejection hurt a lot less too cause it wasn't face to face. (The rejection wasn't because i told him i loved him, i found out years later that he's gay.)

My best advice is to ask to talk to them privately and outright tell them how you feel. People respect that. But if you're not much into speaking, letters work. If done right a letter can spark a world of feelings.

That used to be my best friend. I finally got up the guts and just told him. I kinda blurted it out really. And it's a good thing I did. Now it's 4 years later and we're planning our wedding.

If I were back in junior high, i would send out my dogs (my friends) and scout out the area to see if he liked me back.
If i were back in high school i would probably be friends with him first. make sure he doesn't have a girlfriend and smiles lots when i see him. hehe he'd get the point. don't ever write letters. they are awkward.
now that i'm in college. i'm not sure since there's really no one but i'd smile still. Smiles are worth a million bucks =P

If I we're you I would just say it. if you love them and you feel in your heart it is the right thing to do. then just go for it. tell them you love them and you feel like it is the right thing for you to be together. tell the truth. it should all come to you. you'll be fine. good luck!
