My sister is pregnant by her boyfriend, and she found out that her boyfriend still talks to his ex. She also stays with her boyfriend. She decided to talk to his ex through text message pretending to be him, and the girl did not even know she was pregnant or stayed with him, b/c he never even told her. When she confronted him he swore he did but the girl was obviously hurt by this b/c he must have been leading her on. My mother always made us believe that our father was such a great person to us, then we found out in the end it wasn't rue. Should my sister tell her child the truth about his dad? He basically denied him b/c he acted as if he doesn't exist. I told her no, b/c in a way it seems to hurt the childs self esteem knowing his own father didn't care enough to acknowledge him.

Not my baby. She's nine months pregnant and was a virgin before she met him. She's 20.

I am replying as speaking directly to your sister:

Okay first you have to think what is best for the child. I think if he asks some time in the future about his father (which he will sooner than you would like him to), you should tell him NICELY. Remember, you may hate him but he is still your child's father so don't go bashing him. He will hate you for it when he is older. Trust me. But leave out all this stuff about an ex-girlfriend and other stuff until he is at least an adult and really REALLY wants to know.

Have a paternity test done and see if he denies the child then. It is a little early to be thinking about this since the baby isn't even born yet. You need to figure out if you are going to stay with this person.

I think as the child gets older and has questions and is able to understand then yes he or she should be told the truth. You do not do the children any favors by lying. Children are smarter and more capable to handle the truth the we as adults give them credit for.

young children should always be protected from the problems adults have no they shouldnt be told some truths, as they are not emotionally developed enough to understand.

small children know they are part of mommy and part of daddy so if daddy is bad they does that make me bad too ???

I never intended to tell my kids about there father and him beating me and his drinking and drug problems they met him when they where 11,9,8 and found out for themselves and didn't like him on there own if you tell older kids bad things about there parents they tend not to believe you and resent you for it

its something she need to think about and has allot of time till she has to decide what to do

I agree, no. Children are so sensitive, knowing that their dad is not good really effect to them. When they grow up, they will understand.
