I decided to get to know this girl that always sits next to me in my college class (for about 4 weeks now), i decided to talk to her and get to know her better. At first she was playing with her hair when we started chatting. She greeted my conversation with a smile and seemed genuinely interested in the conversation.Then the professor started lecturing and she was fidgeting with her earrings, playing with her hair (grooming...?) and passively bitting her nails the entire time.
What do you guys/gal think? (That was yesterday)
UPDATE: Today we talked more freely and we had a pretty engaging conversation. She laughed at everything i said, funny or not. She wasn't afraid to invade my personal space and look at my notes either.
What are the chances she's already taken?

these are subtle signs..hard to tell. why don't you ask her for coffee and lead the conversation to the relationship topic smoothly and you'll find out from her...not from us!

If I we're you I would ask her to coffee or out to lunch. if she says no because she has a boyfriend, then you'll know. or if she says yes, then during the conversation you can be like so are you seeing anyone? just be casual, even if she says yes be happy and smile. she could always be single again in the future. oh and look her in the eye when she is talking. and dont just say mmm humm when she says something. pay attention to what she says and state your opinion, then she will know you care and are paying attention. dont act like its a big deal to be hanging out with her. before you two part, tell her you had fun and you should do it again somtime. then ask for her number. then only give her a hug. that is a good start. see if she wears a ring on her left wedding ring finger. if she does that usually means shes taken if not then she's not. maybe the playing with hair thing is a habit.

You shld divert ur question to her and not let strangers speculate abt it. If u like her, tell her how u feel abt her and see what's her reply...from there u shld know if she is taken or not.
