Ask her why she hates studying so much. She's probably bored with what she's studying. Agree with her that studying is boring and it sucks, but assure her that it only takes a little bit of time each day. Try and make the subject matter relevant, like if she's studying math, show her the grocery bill and tell her she's going to need math later in life for basic things. Then set a time and stick to it, so 5-6 pm is study time and the TV will be unplugged. If she needs the PC for studying, supervise it by making her use it in a common area like the dining room. Tell her that after that time, you won't nag her about it and she can do what she wants.

Maybe you can have her only watch 1 half hour show and only 1 hour on the computer on Sunday thru Thursday and on Fridays and Saturdays she is free to use the TV and Chat without restrictions. I have 1 son in Middle school and 1 son in elementary. They do not watch TV or play Video games or computer games Sunday thru Thursday. But on Fridays and Saturdays they are free to do all that! They can listen to music all week, read, color and draw, I found they do a whole lot better in school! Good Luck

You need to be in charge to what she can do around the house. But you need to address to her that she needs to do her studies first, along with other chores, before getting on chat, msn, or watching TV. Otherwise, you might just have to take those previlages away from her until she can make an effort to do those things.
You need to show her who is boss and take control of the matter. Do it now, before it is too late! (smile)

She doesnt have a choice of tv and chat. You're the parent. And what you say goes. She can only use the tv OR chat, AFTER her studying is completed. And NOT on school nites.

Tv's, phones and computers are PRIVILAGES!!! not rights. don't let her use them until shes done her homework. even then, she should be outside playing, interacting with other kids, or finding other active ways to have fun. Electronics are a passive "pastime" and should be a last resort.

the harder you bounce the ball, the harder it bounce back to you.
as children, they won't even care what you say about how bad life will be when they dun work hard. if you hit them or scold them, they hate u back. surely, you wont want that.
why not you bring them to real life places where there are a lot of ppl who are struggling to survive, farms where farmers are ploughing the land under the hot sun. show them something tangible, real life, then they will start to understand wat they have now isn't gonna be forever.
